If your parents are divorced and you reject the family of one parent, can you acknowledge the family of the other parent?

No.

It would be awesome if you could though.

I know Charisma affects influencing speed, but does it affect influence attack strength, too? Or just the speed?
Unknown2010-12-04 02:09:53
Question targetted more at admin, but someone here might know:

If someone is AFK and aetherhunting/hunting/influencing I know it's against rules. Are there any rules against loitering around AFK in manses for periods of time? (running to bathroom/grabbing a snack/quick shower/watching youtube)

It affects influence strength too.

If you are sitting in the manse and doing absolutely nothing, there is no reason why it shouldn't be fine.

I'm sure 70% of the people who have bought manses have done so with this their primary intention, and if the admin were to decide it was illegal and crack down on it, the pbase would quickly drop into a single digit number.

Technically, it's not allowed.
QUOTE ("15.10 AFK")
Lusternia has a simple, easy-to-understand policy on being AFK: It's not
allowed. AFK, which stands for Away From Keyboard also includes, to us, a
player who may be at his or her keyboard, but who isn't doing anything, or
a player who is at his keyboard, but just has an auto-response (also called
a trigger) entering commands for himself regularly.

Depending on how we view the situation, you may receive none, one, or multiple
warnings before being punished for being afk. Punishments might include
zapping, removal of lessons, and, in extreme cases, deletion.

In some cases, if you lose or cut your connection to Lusternia, your character
might stay on-line. Due to the vagaries of the internet, there is no way for
Lusternia to always know that your internet connection is no longer up and
going. This is, however, not a valid excuse, as the existence of the TIMEOUT
command can prevent this from _ever_ happening to you.

That being said, I don't think anyone has ever been punished simply for being AFK.

It's not illegal.

It can annoy fellow players if they see you 'around' but not responding while they are defending / dying / whatever, though.

is the 50% reduction in demesne decay time from the greater demesne rune the same 50% from the lesser, or is it a further bonus to effect duration?
Furien2010-12-04 03:01:36
It's a further bonus, in my experience. So you'll double the length of your effects.

How long should I wait for a response from Support before getting agitated?

If it takes more than a week, there's a good chance it was lost in spam or passed over accidentally.
Krackenor2010-12-04 03:14:34
two years, give or take a day
Unknown2010-12-04 03:18:08
It's more than annoying when someone spends hours AFK, in a manse or otherwise. I only know of one person off-hand who does that, though.
Shamarah2010-12-04 03:21:35
There are rules and then there are Rules. HELP AFK is neither.
Unknown2010-12-04 03:25:59
The key thing for AFK is not to abuse it. If you need to go to the bathroom quickly and your in your manse alone that's the best place to be. The key problem is spending more than TIMEOUT minutes distracted. My feeling is that you need to be playing the game, and try not to do too much multi-tasking. If you need to spend more than 5-10 minutes AFK, why bother being logged in at all? I've had a few problems where the flash client logs in and I don't know about it, or CMUD reconnects.

Basically, I read the HELP AFK as "it's up to the admin to decide, but you've been warned in advance how we feel".

Eventru2010-12-04 09:40:42
If you AFK in a manse, you're fine.

If you're AFKing at the Pool of Stars and you have 8 issues filed and a dozen bugs and an administrator is trying to get a hold of you for 3 hours while you've triggers spamming ql every 15 minutes to keep you from timing out, you're likely to get a small rolepoint dock and your connection ditched.

It varies, honestly, and is situational. Should never be punished just for AFKing in a docked manse.

This what I do. I park myself in my manse real fast to go make lunch or even throw dinner on the stove, then come out. It makes it so I'm not readily 'obvious' to the outside world, and an Admin who sees somebody standing alone in a manse not doing anything is probably more likely to assume you ran away from the keyboard real fast than if you're sitting in a shop, at your nexus, or whathaveyou.

edit: this process usually takes all of 5 minutes, of course, but that's because I'm a guy who does food prep for several meals at a time when I spend extended time in the kitchen, so I'm not chopping stuff and well you get the point.
