Since I'm optimistic and hoping this won't stir up much of a fuss: is that latest 'bug' change to distortion which stops transversing through rifts the shrine or nexus distort kind? The former is understandable, but if it's the latter, that just pretty much killed village raids outside the (already large) dependence on divinefire.
Unknown2010-07-23 18:52:47
In my personal opinion, village raids should never be as easy as run in, kill what you came for, and zip right out. If no opposition shows, or if you give them the slip, you can get right out again. If you needed that rift to bypass the guards, well, then it's a one-way ticket and you can expect to burn a bit of essence after you achieve your goal.
We're all still putting too much stock in our XP/essence levels, myself included. When we can learn to let that go, we'll all be more easygoing people.

Needs me some clarification, plz.
Xiel2010-07-23 19:02:59
Oh, well, double post, but I have another question! By that post, does 'rifts and gates' mean 'rifts and special exits' (ie. archways?).
Thul2010-07-23 19:09:29
Village distort is now blocking transverse via rifts.
My question: when is Conquest going to be retooled so that the risk/reward ratio is actually acceptable to people who choose the governance type? Raiding options appear to be limited to an army with Stealth and Deepcover at this point.

Ironically, Gregori just posted there.

Heh, those are the limitations of the game engine at work, I suppose.
Slithering oozes also bleed, which one could envision as slime "leaking" out of their bodies; yet, when they die to MinorSecond, they "scream," and "blood" squirts out of their "ears."
Hmmmm....

Mechanics will always take precedence over roleplay. For example, my cackling Blademaster pirate will never be a reality, because I'd need to have a Crow-user on standby at all times to remove one of my eyes. Alas!

Or a Nekotai willing to angkai ya in the head.

Yeah, or that. My point stands - it is an inconvenience. It is for this same reason that Centaurs were not implemented as a playable race. Imagine the kerfuffle!

pssh, they should just say Centaurs have a racial perk: extra limbs. (target with rear|front left|right)

That would require way more coding and be far more invloved that you seem to think.

I always thought the really big thing like that which no one ever comments on is the kephera with their exoskeletons. Unless they also have an endoskeleton, it's odd how breaks and muscle damage always work the same on them as on endoskeleton races. Even weirder that a martial arts style they developed, which is built largely around ideas of leverage used in grapples and throws, should work precisely the same whether done by, or used on, races with the same or entirely different structures of bones, muscles, and joints. But no one ever comments on that one.
Felicia2010-07-24 06:24:15
I'd say it's reasonable to assume that kephera have an endoskeleton, and that the exoskeleton is simply the chitinous equivalent of thick skin, rather than being a structurally necessary part of their anatomy. Aside from the exoskeleton, luminous eyes, antennae, and (apparently only in females) large, bio-luminescent "abdomens" (keeping in mind that they also have humanoid abdomens, or so it appears), they're quite humanoid.
It's always a bad idea to drag science into Lusternia, but as we all know by now, a kephera whose body functions in the same way as true insects' bodies do wouldn't be able to survive in Earth's current atmosphere.

Would someone post a description of a Moondancer-summoned dryad, please?
Edit: Including the PROBE description, the summoning description, and the QL and IH appearances?

Yeah, they'd have to have lungs. Like the giant bugs in Mimic!
