There are artifacts for both, not skills.

That explains. Worth the credits, or not at all? Maybe after more vital things?

I personally have a pearl ring and I looove it. But it's one of my more recent artifacts, and I'd never buy any of the other ones, because their usefulness is so limited. And also I'm kind of disgustingly credit-rich so ????? my judgment in this situation is kind of skewed.

It really depends: how often do you go into the seas, and when you are there, are you generally doing something that getting tossed around at random seriously interferes with? Do you have enough access to credits that you wouldn't miss 250 of them for the convenience? (I think that's how much it was, I can't really log in to check right now, stupid school internet blocks Lusternia)

EDIT: Fondly remembering my decision to purchase the pearl ring, which pretty much went like most of my other artifact purchases up to this point. Walking through the Sea of Despair to get to the Taerin Passages or whatever it's called TAERIN SOMETHING and just getting thrown back to the same damn spot over and over and over. Basically: Got annoyed, stormed over to the artifacts place, bought one, then cackled madly while running around the sea like a lunatic.

It would be nice if it did! Aquamancers by far get the sweetest deal with the water thing. I'm pretty sure it's the only one that actually applies outside of the plane?

Pretty much. Unfortunately, it would be more useful for herbalists than anyone else (for all that sargassum and kombu), and they can't take herbs due to requiring high magic.

At 350cr a pop, the elemental rings really aren't worth it, unless you want to do lots and lots of sea questing, and even then that'd only readily apply to the pearl ring.
Unknown2011-02-10 16:50:46
Oh ok, 350. Damn see I have had so many credits that 100 didn't even make a difference to me there in my memory, jegus. WHERE ARE ALL THESE censor.gif CREDITS COMING FROM?? It's not like I usually carry a bunch on me, I think the most I ever had at once was when I had like 800 to get Fata Morgana, and that made me exceedingly uncomfortable.

Seriously what the hell it's actually a little terrifying

To be fair, there's not much you can buy in the way of artifacts with 100cr. ninja.gif

You could get...hang on, you could get three-- no, three would be just a little too much-- you could get TWO experience kisses!! And...turn into a dude and back again a couple times. And be a few times more popular. I think. I'm going off memory here, the gender thing probably costs a lot more than I remember it as, but I know the popularity bubble is like 25cr! Oh, add a ton of zimoru to the list. I spent ~80cr on zimoru once. o_o

Ok yeah you need a lot of credits to get the shiny toys. unsure.gif

We should have more cheap but fun artifacts!! happy.gif Right now all the little toys are dingbats, which is uh...well, that's nice that they exist, but they're pretty hard to actually get. sad.gif More cheap fun toys as credit artifacts!

The bloodstone ring actually stopped the earthquakes in the Prime mountains during that one event. But, in general, the water one is by far the most useful and the others are only good if you hunt essence or harvest herbs.

It makes up for other things that are lacking.
It really doesn't.

If you switch to a new Divine Order, do you just touch your font, symbol, and beads to "attune" them to the new god?

Are there any fundamental mechanical differences in carcer, ringwalk and shafts?

Yeah, ringwalk is the same idea as carcer, chance to block on movement. Shafts does absolutely nothing to block normal movement or magical movement, but it 100% blocks two out of the three tumbles that come to mind (somersault, tumble and roll) because of the timing of the skills. I don't remember which it blocks.
Unknown2011-02-10 21:48:20
What.

Shafts literally removes exits from the room, but it ticks too quickly that sometimes, it opens the path you're escaping to right back. So in a way, you could say that shafts does everything to block normal movement or magical movement, considering that the exit is gone.

No. Shafts has to happen to be blocking that particular exit when the tumble/somersault/roll goes through. It's not a 100% chance by any means.

Right, but shafts is not random. The way it works out, on two of the skill, if you tumble when the exit is open it will always be closed when the skill would like to complete itself. At least it blocked us every time we tried it. I feel like somersault was the one that ignored it, because it is faster.

Eh, no balance loss when you miss an attempt. Hold down the direction you want to go and you'll get out of there. Missed this, or I owuld have stuck it on the last post
Unknown2011-02-10 21:57:15
Even if you hold it down, there's still blocking or a load of other things to get through, if you tumble, it can still stop you assuming shafts decides to close up the direction you're tumbling to.

Hold down leap/handspring.
Shafts is very awesome for blocking tumbles, but that's the limit of it's power, as far as we could tell.Carcer (and carcer clones of various strengths) though, have a chance to block you from just walking out. Shafts doesn't really have that.

Who sets the subjects on books in the World Library? Are they set when a book wins prestige?

Boo, I don't like that change!

When I was in Celest still and Minister of Culture I actually asked Eventru if he could be switched back to having the ability to shout. Eventru said that it was changed from shout to say originally at the request of the council (Or Prince, can't remember), and said that it probably would be possible to change it back if the leadership was ok with it. I made a post about it after that (To the leadership), but no one took interest in the idea/responded, so it remains.

Shafts opens or closes one random exit every second. If you're fighting in a room that only has one exit, sure, it's not random. That doesn't happen most of the time, though. Whether it blocks it or not depends on when the shafts are opening/closing in relation to when the tumble/roll/somersault is started. 50% chance if it's a one exit room and you close your eyes before you cast it.
