I've learned to code in Mudlet fairly well by just diving right in. Install something that already works, look at the code line by line, then try to make something similar yourself. I don't know about MUSH, but Mudlet's error window is pretty good about telling you where you went wrong.

The rule of thumb is wait until somewhere near the beginning of April (i.e. US tax return season) and see if an auction leaps out of the tall grass.
