Does it take lessons to take on a new skill via skillflexing that you have never had before?

Also, How many lessons does it take for a skill if there is only one 'set' (something like herbs where there is no upper and lower half)? 25? 50?
Unknown2010-07-29 17:26:04
No, and 50 for a full skill, or 25/25 for a specialization and its parent.

To clarify, skillflex only comes into play when reactivating skills you have in stasis. It will never cost lessons to forget a skill, permanent or temporarily, and it will never cost lessons to select a new skill that you haven't temporarily forgotten.

When a character suicides, are all items in their inventory and rift destroyed? Or do they end up on the floor?

Is it possible to influence effectively as a human Paladin?

Influencing is largely (solely?) a function of charisma. As a human, you'd start with base 12 and a human Paladin would eventually evolve to have base 13 charisma (according to Xiel's page). On top of that, you can stack various charisma buffs that would max out at +5 to the stat. These include karmic blessing, throne, Netzach if you're Highmagic, domoth blessing, herofete, and probably some others that I'm forgetting. Also, you can get specific influencing buffs like a beast with ego heal and influencing (the beastmastery skills). If you're serious about it, learn enough Influence to have 3 different attacks of each type and alternate between them. Obviously, charismaticaura in Influence will help too.

Personally, I've had not much trouble influencing at 17 charisma. The trick is that if you want it to be your primary xp gain, you aren't going to be doing as well as a race with higher charisma to start with (eg. furrikin, faeling, etc...).

If they do, I'd imagine they're feathered. I think I described my trill with a feathered brow. It makes a certain sense that they have no body hair at all, only feathers. Although that raises some other questions...

Yeah, my understanding (and the way I described Ileein) is that Trill have no real hair; they either have feather/down or they are just completely smooth, depending on the spot and the preference of the player in question.

The other "trick" is to get charismaticaura. Yes, I know Eamon already mentioned it, but it deserves emphasis. So long as you have that, and a base CHA of 12, it shouldn't be too bad at all.

At least if you are true blood-- if a Trill has hair, they are (in Ev's opinion) less than half Trill.

Those dirty non-Trills.

I influence as a lobo (11 base charisma, I think). I need all the help I can get from dramatics and oils and stuff, but I don't think I'm tragic. Then again, I did start the game as a lobo mage, so I'm used to the slow, ineffective grind.

But as a Harmony monk, you get Anguti (however much that helps influencing) and passive ego regeneration when you chant Heart mantras. suspicious.gif

EDIT: Loboshigaru have 11 base CHA, yeah. With Netzach, it's like "Yay, I can influence like a

If this has already been asked, I apologize, but I'm extremely curious. What's with all the cats in New Celest? Is it something where we have to lead the cats to the kittens, or find a kitten and bring it to a cat? Or is it just that we happen to have an overpopulation of felines? Then again, if that was the case, we wouldn't have a vermin problem. Most perplexing.

You can bring the cats to Gathelta (our resident old cat lady, I suppose) in the hotel for 50 gold per cat. I guess it's just something for newbies to do.

There are two ways of getting the cats:
  • Give them a rat to eat, and they'll follow you.
  • Spam STROKE CAT and PET CAT. Try to GET CAT. If it jumps out of your arms, repeat until it doesn't.

As to why they're there in the first place... dunno.gif
