Currents pulls your enemies towards your meld's center. If you are standing at the meld's center, your enemies will be pulled towards you.

Yes, but only influence by Order members will make them disappear (safe).

Currents pulls towards the center, whirlpool pulls towards you. Whirlpool is mainly for solo, currents for splitting groups up, but both have several limits and aren't really OMG skills considering lack of actual afflictions in the aquamesne.

When in the middle of a kata chain, it seems that if you get sprawled, you won't attempt the next form on balance recovery, and instead will on standing up.
If you get entangled, it will attempt the next form and fail, and the "you can't do that while entangled" line pops up.
Any particular reason for that disconnect?
