I reckon if you just lowered the armour stats of tattoo armour, the overall benefits of tattoo armour and splendours would be closer.

This. Or just fixed armour values after enchantment. 78/78 for splendours, whatever nontrans-tattooists get from a full set of tattoo armour for great robes.

Normally I would agree with this. However, you have to take into account that splendours are available for everybody, while the armour benefit of 78/78 for monks is only available for monks with trans tattoos. Still, there might be a report to nerf it from the Shofangi this month, but I am waiting to see how much of a difference it makes.

Also, wasn't this thread called "Simple questions"? Not "Nerfing tattoos"?

Um, does this greathunt have tiered basic credit prizes at certain point values again?

78 is very high, if you make that a standard, you're stomping warriors into the ground. That's why tattoo armour shouldn't be as high, either, monks weren't exactly warrior fodder before.

would getting a tattoo on ankles and making it cutting damage absorption and a tattoo on the waist with the same power equal 10 DMP?
Unknown2011-04-22 14:46:16
Yup. 100 weight total, distributed amongst whatever parts of the body you wish.
vorld2011-04-22 14:48:18
cool thanks for the info

Influence tattoos are...perfume strength, performance strength?

Do we actually have any sort of tiered buff chart like that? I've just been assuming buffs to influence are all the same level and you should just stack as many as you care to bother with.

The number doesn't necessarily have to be 78 - I don't have any realistic idea of what is considered high or low. I just want my splendours to not be completely at the mercy of the RNG. :<

Would something like 70/70 for splendour/trans tattoos and 55/55(?) for greatrobes/non-trans tattoos be a nicer number?
vorld2011-04-22 18:38:25
who have to trans tattoos for 78/78 stats?

The fact that you can get guaranteed stats with tattoo armour (78/78 according to someone?) makes it better than splendours in my opinion.

I'm curious as to how effective making a tattooist wear unenchanted robes could be

I feel one thing really needs to be remembered here, you must have trans tattoos for this to happen. 78/78 might be high but just keep in mind that both of the comparable trans trade armours can be retained at full strength after skillflexing out, or you know permanent forgetting if people still do that.

...

I do not feel that this argument is at all valid, for the following reasons.

Here, I will post my trade-skill AB list for you.

Trade Skills Rank Pool
------------- ------------ ------------
Forging Transcendent Melee
Poisons Transcendent Communion
Herbs Transcendent Communion
Bookbinding Transcendent Finearts

Now, if I was to go Monk I would just trade Forging for Tattoos. Not much of a loss. If I want to temporarily do any of the other trade skills for a day I can just forget bookbinding temporarily (again, no real loss there!)

Everyone can buy an extra tradeskill slot now, from the artifact store. Everyone also has the option to learn the Demigod tradeskill slot, so everyone has the potential for up to 3 slots; sure, it requires a bit of investment (either time or money) but anyone who is a true min-maxer would just get a second slot, keep tattoos and trade out the second slot as needed for other tradeskills.

Even without that, they could just drop tattoos for a couple hours before the month change, do whatever they need, and take Tattoos back up for 100 lessons total when the month changes... or 0 lessons (no further cost at all) if they buy the doctoral cord.

It's really nothing like the bad old days where that argument held any water; tradeskills are now plentiful and readily available, easily swapped, and even if you don't avail yourself of extra trade slots you can still have access to all the other tradeskills that you desire.

How do you calculate the amount of food/drink needed for a fete/teaceremony? If there are 60 sips of tea in a bottle, is that plenty, or do I need a vial/bottle of tea for each person?

I don't think you can get a straight answer for this. There seems to be some random factor involved, in addition to a noticeable influence from lessons invested in similar skill pools. I once managed to feed 15 people on 10 platters, but I don't think I've heard other people getting similar results.

Well, I have 10 vials of tea, if that's not enough it's just silly.
