What constitutes a real action? Is going... -cough- unacceptable? Should you do something like ARRAHEM! Instead, or what? Just seeking some clarification, as I'm hearing different things.

Aethers are sound, so only audible things are acceptable. That said, all actions are generally discouraged. Aethers are not for actions, they're for words. If you *romp* people will correct you; if you *cough* they will groan, grump at you, stop taking you seriously, and make you regret it, but they won't actually say it's wrong.

I feel people are fine with it so long as you leave hyphens and asterisks out of it. IE seeing:
(Celest): Zok says, "Cough. I didn't mean to do that!"
Is way more acceptable than:
(Celest): Zok says, "*coughs* I didn't mean to do that!"

Same goes with sigh or chuckle (though if you chuckle you may as well say haha or hehe or hee, or whatever.)

Hope that makes sense. Like Lendren said, doing it the 'wrong' way will earn you a lot of grumpiness from others.

It's a matter of opinion. I'd rather see someone saying "Cough, I didn't mean to do that, ha!" than "ct *cough* I didn't meant to do that! *laugh*". Looks like a difference to me.

But then again if you see someone doing that in your org feel free to tell them how you might cough over the CT. Or whatever.

edit: oh and when I see the word "Cough" used in a public aether I always imagine the person coughing. Not the word cough.

Also, no offence Razenth, but if everyone goes and say "Oh whatever doesn't matter anyway" that won't really help IC / OOC. Some of us still care. Not saying you don't. Just seen collective giving up discourage others and then it all goes to hell. And I don't feel Lusternia is doing all that bad if you compare it to MMO's.

I use the word "sigh" ironically in RL conversation. Same with cough. I'll go coughcoughMunsiacoughcough, actually saying it.

I believe it's said that ISSUE ME is generally preferred. It makes you anonymous to the person you're reporting, while it lets the admins know who to contact for more information.
