Never bought credits, and I'm a Demi along with a small batch of artifacts/trans skills. I'm no combatant though, and likely never will be (although that's mostly because of my inability to function in combat).

I got to 80+ before buying credits. And there's always those facebook credits...if you're really, really patient.
Edit for disclaimer: I'm a non-com hunter/influencer

Dunno about you but a solid 10 bound credits per day is not something to scoff at. And apparently it is totally OK to make a fictional FB account for it, get into Farmville, mass friend invite through that and then spam everyone with IRE invites.
As for me, I'm level 91, and the only thing I bought was the tobacconist runes pack so my character would not be deleted. I'm a casual player though

I omnitrans'ed and picked up a collection of artifacts from aetherhunting and Christmas. Mostly Christmas. Sweet sweet gnomes.

First trans skill from Christmas events. Yeees. Christmas is deliciously awesome.

I bought 40 credits once. True story.

In the past I've never bought credits, and it always seemed like I at a significant disadvantage. Can you actually make it in this game without buying credits? what proportion of lvl 75+ players get there without buying any credits from the website?
I have only ever bought a lesson pack of 500 lessons. Take patience and hard-work, but it's more than doable.

Wait wait wait, how do you get 10 bound a day through Facebook, again? That's like 3K creds a year, free of charge.

Use the FB IRE app. Invite peeps. One credit per invite. Transfer 10 credits per day.

What's the syntax to lose everyone following you?
Unknown2011-07-27 19:00:36
Edit: I was wrong. I don't think there is a way to just lose all things/people following you.

Dunno if it loses denizens, but tumbling out loses every player.
Rakor2011-07-27 19:47:08
leap, somersault, tumble, handspring, evade, etc

Hey guys,
So I've played a couple IRE games before (including Lusternia) and I'm looking to get back into it. I had a couple of questions as I do so though.
In the past I've never bought credits, and it always seemed like I at a significant disadvantage. Can you actually make it in this game without buying credits? what proportion of lvl 75+ players get there without buying any credits from the website?
Also, how feasible is it to build your own system? Am I basically going to be forced to buy a system or is there another option? On a related note, should I be using a particular client?
Finally, I'm interested taking a knight class. Is training knighthood going to help me the most for hunting denizens? Or should I focus on something else too? Does the human experience bonus help growing levels significantly, or should I go with something more specialized to my race?
Thanks!

Facebook offers 10 bound credits a day; you can also buy credits in-game, win from bardic and artisanals, write books/plays to earn them in-game, and there may be a few other ways to go about it depending on the org you're in.
I don't know about other orgs but Celest has a reflex program in game where you donate 200k gold to the city and they transfer 80 credits to Vadi, who will send you a copy of his m&m system. It's a fair system and Vadi is updating it all the time and it's very user-friendly. Earning 200k is really, really easy in Lusternia as well, so long as you ask for (and listen to!) people's advice, you'll find it a breeze. I rolled an alt and I had 200k before I even hit level 75, and I had been aetherhunting (which is a fairly small amount of gold made, and more for EXP), and mainly just doing some small quests and leading bards and scholars. I didn't really do any amount of bashing.
The Warrior archetype is great for bashing, but since recent changes, everyone is pretty much on the same level anyway. Warriors and monks have the advantage with raze, though. It really comes down to the player's awareness, what artifacts they have, and also if they "metagame" (meaning they max their stats, and try to get every advantage to damage and survival). A big downside to the warrior archetype is that, from what I understand, you basically require expensive artifacts to make it worthwhile for PvP. I'm not sure if this applies to PvE though I know those crit and extra damage artifact help. It's almost the same for guardians and wiccan archetype; you need to get to Fabled in a skillset just to get your 'real' bashing ability (symbol/cudgel), and before then you're using the newbie skill which is kind of painful.
As far as races go, I think the best thing you should do is go human. You get one free reincarnation and if you decide human isn't working out for you, you can change race. Choosing a specialized race is by no means bad, but you may feel like you're missing out on that level 2 XP and therefore may want to reincarnate to human straight off the bat, which is why I suggest you start out human and then change your race later on when you feel more comfortable with it. Human, especially with tattoos, isn't a bad race.

...how long does it take for a Battlerun event to start?

Would Aeonics + Bonecrusher be any good nowadays? And has anyone competent tried it yet?

I know that's what Ushaara does, but no one else comes to mind. The Sentinels are pretty shorthanded. Ask him about it?
Ushaara2011-07-28 16:19:35
Think I'm the only active bonecrusher with aeonics alright. Sentinels have had increased activity recently, though we're still small relative to other guilds. Nice bunch of people and no drama if you prefer a relaxed atmosphere though, with several of us trying to improve our combat ability. No Ixion/Shuyin in the ranks yet, so "IT COULD BE YOU!"
As to synergy with aeonics: it has great abilities to help keep you alive, nice passive afflictors in echoes and oracle with aeon on command, but you'll never manage a timequake so kills still limited to crushlock/burstorgans/bashbrain. No DMP and no weaponaura boost like you get in other tertiaries though.
In a nutshell, I like it but Bonecrusher could still do with something like 'internal bleeding/bruising' to force your opponent to CLOT and take a sip of mana, instead of always having health balance ready to cure deepwounds to bring it up to level of other specs. As it stands, it seems still too easy to sparkle/scroll away the damage.
By the way, I make no claim of being 'competent.' I'm at the 'not dying nearly as much as I used to' stage though, which I hope is on the path to becoming competent.

I still think bonecrusher+Necromancy is the way to go for BC.

I switched to feeding my horse meat instead of oats, because I have a bunch of meatfeed for some reason and I ran out of oatfeed. Anyway, up until this point, everything was fine, and every two oatfeed he could take another bodoru. But now that I've switched to meat it uh, doesn't seem to be working anymore? Even though he's had meatfeed for four feedings now, I keep getting "Your beast's body cannot take a dose of bodoru reagent. His body needs to be prepared with a more strict diet of meat or oats."
So, my question! Does switching feeds of the same type take a while to go into effect or something? I've switched from oatfeed immediately to fishfeed and had no issues giving him mindoru, before. A little annoying, since he'd be done his training by now if these last two hadn't gone weird.
