Why is it I can use my Seeing Stone to see some people with cloaking gems who happen to be in the realm (Xenthos and Munsia come to mind), but I am unable to see others (like Marina). Are there skills that block scrying completely?
Razenth2011-08-18 22:58:47
Yes, but Marina doesn't have them, so I don't know!

Is there a way to transfer the harvesting privilege of a manse commodity producer to someone else?

No. It's been requested and turned down.

You can only see them with the seeing stone if they are on the same plane (or an adjacent plane if you learned enough planar). If they are on the same plane and you can't see them, it sounds like a bug.

I knew that part, I just know that there are some people I can see with the SS on the right planes (and I know they are around, because I've walked into them), but I can't use the SS on them. I was wondering if there are more general or guild specific skills or an arti that might block it.

(Hate the Gem of Cloaking BTW--so many older people use it I can't always know if some interesting fellows are around...)

There's no artie that blocks scrying, and no general skills. Stealth is the only skills that blocks scry attempts, and I think it costs a bunch of power and doesn't last very long, so you're not likely to run into it continuously.

Yeah, its been my favorite artifact since you and Shayle suggested I get one years ago.

What it could be otherwise is people orgixing away to other planes without Tully realising it. Or just orgixing and sitting in limbo.

Or perhaps they are in privacy-d rooms, and you actually looking down into their room is being blocked.

Do privacy rooms actually prevent scrying?
Unknown2011-08-19 00:55:34
Hmm. I'd have to ask Marina--I'm pretty sure I couldn't see her using the stone when I walked one room away when I saw her. (I also have the scrying mirror as well)

"Privacy rooms" don't block seeing stones, at least from my experience.

True, but mostly--at least I think--you use it to prevent hunters from hunting you, while I'm just trying to find old friends. I think some people just leave it on by default sometimes.
Diamondais2011-08-19 00:57:53
Some people prefer it on.
Ytran2011-08-19 01:01:53
I need a cloaking gem.

But the pyramid puzzle is also oh so tempting.

In my experience it's great for stopping 'harassment' of all kinds, not just hunting. While you might be trying to find old friends, when I have my gem off I get repeatedly asked over and over why my name is a different colour.

I should send you a message with that.

Tully isn't a janitor, that's a cover. His true purpose is to be a SPY. I won't say for whom, except not for Hallifax, because Hallifax has machines for always watching you.

Does commodities decay outside the rift?

Doesn't seem like it, though I could be wrong. I've dropped things upon quitting and rejoined to see them all on the ground several rl days later. There's also some commodities that have been sigiled that are just lying around random places for the longest while.
Kiradawea2011-08-19 19:27:49
Good. Then I know what to do with the commodities.

As a note, commodities left on the ground -will- poof if there is a reboot. They're safe in a chest or some such, I think.
