I reckon all of the "creatures" on Continuum are pretty much just mindless energy beings.
Mobile, sure, but I do not think they are sentient.
But enough about that.
Are Thunderbirds not already Hallifaxian Beasts, by the way?

Obviously, the beasts living on Continuum will be modrons.

Kinda, but they're mage beasts, and mages and druids already all get that, so they hardly count seeing as not all Hallifaxians are aeromancers.

It'd be nice if was another Platonic solid, except, there aren't any more! Muhahahahah.

Tomorrow's Critical Hit tuesday. What percentage of your hits will be criticals then?

What exactly does MANTRA BANISH banish? It seems very specialized.
Also, is there any practical application for suspended animation? It seems really pointless to me to boost your health, et cetera, if your max isn't boosted as well.

Banishes anything incorporeal - ghosts (Necromancy) and Dreamweavers.
As for suspended animation, you're invincible for the entire duration - as soon as you break free, you could potentially touch a cubix/snort spores/activate another escape mechanism before anyone can hinder you.

The critical hits promo days add the equivalent of a level three critical hits rune. So, an Ascendant with a level three rune does amazing on these days!

Gaudiguch already has beasts, they're called Wyverns.

Which guild has the most active members? I'm looking for a guild that involves its members and doesn't carry an atmosphere of perpetual silence without creating an army of alts to find out myself.

Checking out TOPGUILDS can usually give you a good idea of which guilds are more active. Though just because a guild is high or low on it doesn't necessarily mean they'll be more talkative or quieter, it can give you a good starting idea of where people are spread out.

TOPGUILDS really only tells you something if you watch it for many days. It's way too volatile to be a snapshot.

I've heard people say they love suspended animation. I'm kinda 'meh' on this trans skill. First, you have gimp yourself by going off eq/balance for 6 seconds to unlock your superstatus channel (assuming you had it locked like most psymets do). Then quickly send the command to suspend your animation.
It's a basically a panic button the tucks you neatly into a "turtle shell" also known as "out of phase"... Only problem is that your enemy will usually call his or her friends, ice wall you into the room, and sit patiently until you can wake from the suspended state. More times than not I am in a worse situation than before I entered into suspension.
Practical? I guess on the one rare occasion where your enemy gets bored of you "playing possum" and moves on before you snap back... or in those other instances where you have another method to escape (i.e. not teleport). It is worth mentioning that someone a while back recommended the skill be changed to allow for boosted regen/curing for a short period:

It worked quite well for Veyz several times. Essentially devolves into the ping war of everyone holding down the enter button, because when the monk comes out of animation, they have both bal & eq and can do an action right away.

How is word count calculated in the library system?
EDIT: To clarify, do borders and decorative texts get lumped into the word count?
P.S. Thanks again to everyone who answers my questions.

It also depends on your play times. A guild might be very active but if there is an activity gap in your timezone it will seem silent. My two cents? Pick what you like best and give it a try. And get involved yourself, sometimes that is all it takes to shake a seemingly inactive group to life.

Yes. This.

On another note pertaining to the topic at hand, how often are Projects actually used by orgs and other groups? Did not even know it existed before I joined Hallifax, and only learned that recently.
Calixa2010-09-07 17:17:32
Mag / Nihilists uses them for certain things, there are a bunch that look outdated though. They seem handy if you want to use their features like marking progress and such, or when you don't want to have yet another city help file. Not sure how it works for rights, who can do city help files versus projects.
Nariah2010-09-07 17:57:39
Help files are, as the name suggestions, for general helpful information and lists, whereas projects are usually used for new interesting developments or initiatives. The greatest advantage of projects over help files is that a help file can only be edited by people with certain rank whereas projects can be assigned.
Namely, city help files can only be edited by Ministers and the Council (guild and city leaders). Guild help files can only be edited by Secretaries and Guild Leaders (all three).
In a Guild, a project can be started by any of the leaders (I don't think secretaries can) and any of the three leaders can hijack the project making themselves the leader (so can edit it) or hand it off to someone else to edit. In a city, only the Council can make new projects (I think?) and only they can hijack or transfer it (I don't think ministers can). Basically, this allows for projects to be editable space for people without the rank to edit a help file because they aren't old/experienced enough to have the right rank for it or whatnot.
As Calixa mentioned, we use them in Magnagora and the Nihilists lavishly, as do most orgs and Guilds (I deleted the outdated ones too!). For example, I used to keep my GM agenda in a project as it simply didn't seem appropriate to have in a scroll, and one of Undersecretaries in training used to have their project for detailed information about a contest they were running.

I've been playing at different times over the past couple of months (had plenty of free time lately!). The guilds and cities I tried have been 'dead' pretty much the entire time. It's discouraging.
I've tried speaking to various members, starting conversation with conventional and non-conventional topics, and so on. Nothing. Crickets. I had an illithoid monk idea, but it's not as fun when you're just talking to yourself. If I wanted single-player RP, I'd rather pop-in Demon's Souls and make stuff up on the fly...
Meh. I'll just scrap that character and try Hallifax. I hate essays, though.
