Pretty sure Wayfaire was the first implemented quest that tracked individual progress. Not only is the metaquest tracked and saved, each of the five tasks keeps track of your progress. Honestly, I can see both why it's not brought around all that often, and I can see excusing it for breaking every once in a while. (I'm surprised it's taken this long, to be honest. Nothing against the admin, mind you, but the code to do that in Rapture must be a )

It shouldn't break - the problem earlier was an error that was fixed on 3/5 scripts before it was put in, that caused an infinite loop when someone suicides or was deleted after finishing up one or more of the quest stages. Both were closed down by the system, but it only showed us an error for one of them (since they happened simultaneously). Andrzej went unnoticed. They should be fixed up, though, so the next time it happens the system will skip them over.
Elsewise, Czigany should be bug free!

How are you supposed to solve mazes like the one in the Wayfaire? I know the solution is on Caffrey's map, but I'd like to figure it out myself.
Unknown2010-10-07 19:10:41
Each maze is a little different. Some of them allow you to drop "marker" objects, like breadcrumbs. Some kick you back to start when you get it wrong, so you need to try a different path the next time. It's all about trial and error and a good dose of patience.

Chimaeras spit poison inherently. My little baby should be popping out soon, and I can't wait to stuff it full of rotting meat and fish heads.
And thanks! I shall hereby start bugging all these odd rooms that're curiously not mapped yet.

Since they cost dingbats does that mean they can't be killed or...?
Unknown2010-10-07 20:44:34
They can die, so be careful with them.
Yiila2010-10-07 20:53:17
If I buy an egg, how long do I have to prepare whatever it needs before it dies? Never had a pet, so I am not sure what the financial investment is to keep your pet alive.

Simple questions, please. Let's get this other thing onto its own thread.

When I have two afflictions cured by the same cure, say pierced limb and hemiplegy (both cured by eating smoking myrtle), how can I know what one will be cured first? Is it the first I received, or latest addition? Can I chose to cure one specifically (for afflictions with only one cure)?
Edit: those are smoking cures. Hopefully that won't change anything.

Those are smoke cures, just in case you got them mixed up elsewhere too. Not sure about the rest.

Does anybody know if there's a command in zMUD that's something like... "#import ", to do a .txt import? And I tried that one so it's not that.

Though there are some cases where there are priorities, in the more general case, you can't know, it'll be randomly selected.

If I allow an alt (of mine) into a fairly exclusive manse of my main, would that be breaking the Rule of Seconds?
Aerotan2010-10-08 07:30:31
Try to think of HELP SECONDS not as a "What can't I do" list, and more as a set of rules to keep characters autonomous. If your second character could do it on his own, of his own volition, and would have done it even if your first character wasn't the one being interacted with, then you can usually get away with it. This means things like an alt buying goods at fair market price from a shop owned by the main, which the alt has access to without being specifically given it. On the other hand, buying directly from your character via mail order will probably be frowned upon.
tl;dr version: Yes, it probably is. An OOC clan is probably less an issue, but manse access is a bit too IC for that.

Yes, the Domoth argument should really be its own thread, though it's already gotten rather nasty in here...
The only thing I actually like about the current system is that the opposing org cannot interfere. Without that, you still end up with the whole game being lopsided. Even with this non-interference, claiming a Domoth at certain times of the day/week can be a real pain. The ONE time I rallied the troops to challenge Inagin, it was such a debilitating fight that was ultimately no fun at all. However, without the shrine effects, we would have won the Domoth.

If you have an aethership and you use part of it as your manse (you keep books, items, money, etc in a room) and you happen to take it for a spin to have it explode by some foul creature, do you lose everything in the room?
Different question - How long is the Faire going to be for?

When a ship implodes, everyone on board is killed and the ship moves back to the Aetherplex, AFAIK. Nothing on the ship is lost, otherwise.
