What constitutes an "active" member of a city/guild? How long ago do they have to have logged in to be marked as active?

I'm fairly (say, 90-95%) certain the threshold is 30 days.

Are there any gay or lesbian NPCs in the game? Lorewise? I assume there are none that respond oppositely to seduction influence battles, i.e. fall in love with the same sex and become best friends with the opposite sex, since there are more important things to code.
Given the relative visibility of player-characters-who-aren't-straight in Lusternia, I feel like there should be.

I don't think that message depends at all on gender already, only on the mob's personality. So I guess all the mobs are bi.

Especially the head bodybuilder at the Wayfaire. I think he holds to a strict nondiscrimination policy in all areas, if you get my meaning.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it is tied into gender. I always get different messages when I influence seduction-weak mobs, depending on whether they're male or female.

Well, go test it empirically and get back to us. If you're right, I'll buy you a cyberdonut. If you're right, you can buy me one. (Since Lendren changes gender -- and I don't mean genderbend, but actually changes -- often, and gets the same responses either way, I am pretty sure, but let's see what you get in your tests.)

It's rather hard to test it empirically, since it depends on the gender who did the influencing before you try. These are the messages I've found though:
QUOTE
Counter of the Coins, Chixesaka Miim doesn't even seem to notice you, as he is lost thinking of his best friend.
Artisan of the Gems, Misinga Xeeth doesn't even seem to notice you, as she is lost thinking of her best friend.
A female aslaran doesn't even seem to notice you, as she is lost daydreaming of her true love.
An aslaran warrior doesn't even seem to notice you, as he is lost daydreaming of his true love.

A female aslaran doesn't even seem to notice you, as she is lost daydreaming of her true love.
An aslaran warrior doesn't even seem to notice you, as he is lost daydreaming of his true love.
So there's both friendly and love messages for both genders of mobs, and since those messages cannot mean anything but seduction, I deduced that the different messages depended on the gender of the person doing the influencing before you tried.
It can be added that the message for you successfully influencing someone is always "drops down on her knees and worships the very ground you walk on!", but since that doesn't say anything about love (at least I don't connect love and worship), I don't think that's the message that was referred to.

Don't you sometimes get, 'wraps an arm around you, declaring you to be the truest of friends."?

Hmm. It's not in my system, and searching my logs gave me no matches either, so at least it isn't something I've ever come across. And I've lost count of how many I've influenced.
Ileein2010-10-12 02:24:39
I've gotten that, though oddly I think the denizen in question was female. Perhaps she was a lesbian.

Well, I get it from the Bluetails (rabbit furrikin) in Tolborolla, which are all girls.

Sensuous falls in love. Everything else doesn't. Sensuous females, you get all up on with caressing their neck and stuff. Sensuous males, you flutter your eyelashes and stroke their muscles, etc. Everyone else gets the friendship lines.
Okin2010-10-12 02:30:40
Interesting! What about lorewise?
Lendren2010-10-12 02:30:56
Let me be more clear: I think that there are differing messages depending on the mob's gender (as well as on his/her personality, as shown by ANALYZE), but that those do not ever depend on the gender of the person who is doing, or who previously did, the influence. And that can certainly be tested empirically.
Edit: As Phoebus spelled out while I was posting this. Just do what Phoebus did, and get someone of the opposite gender to do it too, and I bet the results are the same. As I said, since Lendren changes gender and the results don't change, I might have an unusual chance to have already seen what it'd take a more thorough test for most people to see, but I'm fairly sure you'll get the same results if you try.

Ah. The messages while influencing I can say nothing about, since I've only ever been male. I was talking about the messages when trying to influence something that's already been influenced, since those are the only ones that actually say they're in love or only friends.

Or you're just ugly and/or boring.

Nononono, you're thinking of lucidians. Trill are racially sexy.

Not as a race, I just meant you personally.
