If you hand your artifact to someone else, and you decide to suicide before it comes back, does it just disappear from their hands or do they keep it for forever?

The number of people who have artifacts but are not non-deletable characters are far and few, if possible at all. I imagine that if you tried this, the artifact would simply poof when it tried to reset, and acting in any other way would be a bug. I would also venture to guess that acquiring artifacts in this way, if it were possible, would be skirting shrubbing territory.

I have artifacts but I'm a deletable character. So hah. But thanks The question popped into my head in the middle of the night and it was driving me crazy.

With all the prizes and contests and such that give out credits and/or dingbats, I'd think there are actually a lot of people who are deletable with artifacts.
I think the artifacts just reset to Limbo when the owner is not found.

After how long of login hours do you have to stay before your character can no longer become purged?

I don't think there's a point where you won't be purged. The only way to guaranty not being deleted is to buy credits with RL money. The more hours you have logged in mean the system will wait for a longer period of inactivity to delete you. So if you log in a couple times a week forever, you won't be deleted.

I've got a character that's... oh, probably bordering on 10 years of never having been logged in now in Achaea, and that one's still around. I'd wager that they use pretty much the same code for character purges. Also, Ssaliss wasn't logged in for about a year and a half, and still wasn't purged. So either the time is very very long, or there is a breakpoint somewhere.
EDIT: Before I left, I had played for about 40 days.

Last I heard from one of the Admin, it was 50 hours.
But without having bought credits, you can still suicide. Once you buy credits, no more suiciding. You're around until the game ends.

It's the influencing perfume, yes. I like mine. It's quite lovely.
Now if only I knew how much it generates!

60 applications like anything else. Any other number is just breaking consistency and probably won't happen anyways.

So once you've played for 50 hours, you're permanent (excluding suicide)? Much lower than I would've guessed, but nice!

Out of curiosity, if you change Orders, will the Prayer Beads of the Gods dingbat artifact change to your new God if you TOUCH them again?

Yes.
Daraius2010-10-14 00:24:47
Maybe not a simple question at all... How do you address suicide in character? It's character deletion, so do you move on as if the character never existed, or treat it like the character really committed suicide?
Furien2010-10-14 00:29:23
For all intents and purposes, they've committed suicide, and the Fates will never again touch their thread in the great Tapestry of Fate. (Edit to clarify - yeah, they still existed and it's perfectly rational to speak of them as What Once Was.)
There's a few rare exemptions to this, such as the admin allowing characters to be recreated from scratch - in that case I guess it was, oops, a temporary misweave! Or perhaps part of the plan all along?

Question: just purchased a chimaera. This is a 25db pet. Will it *poof* if it dies beyond level 1 OR I fail to pay stable fees? OR does it act more like any other artie (meaning resetting and non-decay).

It'll die like any other beast.

I'm curious. Is a chimaera worth it for being a first-time pet? (Wondering if I should spend the 25 dingbats I got on it) I got some levels in Beastmastery but I haven't done anything with it. Financially, how draining is it having a pet and raising it?
Ixion2010-10-14 04:29:41
The 25db pets are a money sink just like so many other things in Lusternia to keep the market in check.
I'd suggest a cheap horse for your first beast.
