Talan, I offered to name names if someone really needed a list for some reason, but I don't think it's necessary, really.
The analogy was made because there is a group in another IRE game that does rp being a terrorist group, basically. I guess you haven't played that game and I should've explained that to begin with. But yeah that's where that comes from, it's not at all out of the realm of possibility. Sorry if the idea offended you!

This topic was inspired by the recent discussion in the Tweets thread but I think it's sort of it's own little topic so I figured I should save the admins the trouble of moving it, and do it here. I'm not trying to start an argument, though it will probably result in that, but I just want to know, what is the reasoning behind raiding an org, then enemying its members when they come to defend, then chasing them around on prime neutral any time after that and using the reason "you're an enemy"? I mean, is there an actual reason I'm missing, or is it really just a pathetic excuse to pick a fight and create new targets for griefing, like it seems at first glance? I've thought about it and thought about it and I really can't come up with a reason beyond that.

Uh... Really? Did you miss the countless times I've mentioned on these forums - and in this thread - that Aubrey is a pacifist and doesn't pk, even in defense?
Sorry, but I don't make a habit out of reading all the posts of every person I am replying to.
From your first post I assumed you were defending. And I replied accordingly.
If you don't like my replies, ignore me.

You know, Aubrey isn't even an enemy.
Clearly this imbalance must be addressed.

I couldn't figure out how to word this properly until just now when I went afk for a few and this analogy hit me: You said "well the orgs are at war, what do you expect" right? Except in war, at least RL war (yes I know it's not exactly the same, but for the sake of making my point), the armies don't go around killing civilians. In fact that's looked down upon or downright forbidden. Especially in neutral ground. It's one thing going back and forth and bombing each other's countries, but for example if you're American and you go visit France, and America and Germany were at war, you wouldn't expect German military to come in and kill you in France, right? That's what this feels like to me. Aubrey is an example of a civilian - a pacifist one at that, and very new when this happened. For an arti'd nearly omnitrans demigod to come kill a level 55 not-even-one-trans veritable newbie on neutral ground... "The orgs are at war" just sounds like a lame excuse. Unless Glom were RPing an org like the Taliban or something, like Lusternia's version of terrorists. But they're not, so... yeah... gotta go with Shaddus's original reply. Thanks everyone for helping answer my question!
Have you not heard about World War Two?
Many civilians died.
That does not make it 'right,' but war is never clean in the real world. There is a lot of collateral damage in Afghanistan these days, for example.

I think Aubrey is not catching him/her on purpose, so she has a reason to continue complaining.

War, whether in a game or in real life, will always have casualties. Thankfully in-game, you can just learn to roll with it.
If there's one thing playing Lusternia has taught me, it is how to shrug off a lot of things. Getting an enemy status is just one of many things you learn to live with, earn/rightfully done or no.

Faymar, I'm not sure why you're so snarly, but I was actually just asking an honest question, because I thought I might be missing something. And yes, since you mention it, good idea, I believe I will indeed ignore your posts!

Oh if you wanted the 'real' why, it's for the sweet grief and pk xp, RP is just bent to satisfy that. Want to kill someone you hate? Poof, you are now the Protector of Gorgogs.
I figured the question was already answered within Shaddus' first post, I was just mostly interested in answering how 'bad' it really is.

Hmm, I think Hallifax will now have to be the Protectors of non-pigeon vermin (including rockeaters)!

Actually, that was a veiled political comment. A snarly political comment, I have nothing against you. In that comment you were America, Osama bin Narynth was... well, Osama, and complaining was whatever they are justifying with the threat of terrorism these days.

Back away from the politics.

Lets keep the outside crap from here please.

OP, either get used to it, or hire the mercenary clan to protect you, if it really is as bad as you say it is. Don't know if they still are around.
Also, because you are a pacifist, does not mean you shouldn't learn to defend yourself much much better. Heck a friend of mine is a pacifist, and what he does if we get in fights around Beirut is he sits on people until they give up. if you can toadcurse, do it to get the point that you want to be left alone. Egh, anyways, goodluck.

I am not directing this at anyone in particular. This is just kind of how I have always viewed noncombatants or pacifists.
To be honest, I don't know that pacifist or noncombatants are what I would compare to civilians for me. In my mind, any player has the makings of soldier in terms of their skillsets and membership in a guild. Additionally, there really is no pacifist guild. I don't think you can really say I don't pk therefore I am not a valid target.
Though most folks avoid pursuing noncombatants, my mindset would partially be go rogue if you truly want to be a pacifist and considered a civilian. Otherwise, you are fair game though perhaps it is a little aggressive to target and pursue a noncombatant.
One thing I am curious on would be the IC viewpoint of the various Great Spirits or Elemental/Cosmic Lord equivalent towards a pacifist/noncombatant. I am not sure whether they recognize and support such behavior or would view such choices as less than complete dedication and service to the cause.

Being enemied for hunting protected beings is actually one of the most RP like things an org can do in enemying. Especially when it is areas like illithoid, kephera, merians who have very strong ties to an org. Even Ur'dead are understandeable even though they hate magnagora.
Not quite.
@ Riluna it happens. If it was Glom/Celest they get itchy trigger fingers and, like members from all orgs at one point or another, enemy for any reason they can find even if it's completely erroneous or fubar. I personally try not to enemy unless they've actively done something to warrant it. I doubt the scores of people from Glom/Celest/Halli who hunt shallach orcs know I was watching them and testing if they were enemied.
