Just wondering, how much essence does influencing/bashing typically get you, in say a 1 hour stay on Astral? Are there other things that can get you essence, like quests and offering esteem?

It also looks like Ascendants have access to over 30 different powers and Demigods have a third of that, while the former only makes up a small percentage of the playerbase, endgame or not.

Varies wildly. If you asked about aetherhunting, I could give you numbers.

For a frame of reference for the non-demis, killing a dragon while in a turret is worth about 20k before modifiers.
Razenth2010-08-10 01:13:58
Which can take between 1 to 2 minutes depending on the quality of gunners and the ship.

Gargs are worth ~3.5k. Influencing guards are ~800-1k.

The essence shop is something a lot of people wanted.

I don't think losing most of your abilities and having to buy a small amount of them back at 10 hours of work each, while having nothing really new with the exception of picking 1 of 9 custom messages from a list was what they had in mind though ouch.gif
Ssaliss2010-08-10 01:17:31
I'm satisfied with my second trade skill (when I get it, that is).

Of course not. They would want to keep everything they had, PLUS use their enormous stashes of essence to buy even more. Which I'm very glad was not put in.

If it makes any of you on the not-Glom side feel any better, I'm not sure Urazial can afford divinefire without an essence infusion.

Looks like Benevolence was removed, so there's no essence infusion possibility.

A lot of people say that divine fire is the only bad thing about demigods, nothing else was terribly unbalanced. Remove divine fire, possibly adjust zap to be less deadly in large groups, add essence shops with things with no combat purpose. Tada! Something thats fun.

But... it was.

Just, only for a few people, who now have a crazy list of awesome stuff to choose from, and the points to spend on it.

Which is another part of the problem here. Now you've got Shuyin running around with some contigation thing, and Fillin got a damage boost (because pollute didn't blast you to bits before).

So the gap is opened up wider than ever. The people on the good end of it say, "Look at all this great stuff! Nice work! Cool!". The people on the other side of the chasm (many of whom are forum silent and probably didn't have a great idea of the truck coming down the road with its lights off) are like... "ouch."
Eventru2010-08-10 01:33:33
How does Fillin's pollute do more damage? (sorry, I'm missing the link on that one!)

Magic damage rune.
Razenth2010-08-10 01:35:00
I think Akui means HavocCry. The desc indicates it gives a damage boost (?). Not sure if that works for self though.

Oh! Right. It's +10%, its real benefit is probably that it's all city-members in the current room that have the benefit.

(Not that +10% is anything to sneeze at, it's just the same as say Vendetta)

Shrink? Seriously? Man.

Calculating how much essence I'm going to need to get all my Dex back.
Razenth2010-08-10 01:40:30
Someone needs to tell us if losing shrink/expand resets your size to default. It'd be cool if it didn't, but not holding my breath or anything.

Not sure if it's a bug or not, but I'm still size 1, so if you haven't planned on changing your size too often, I don't think that one's needed.

EDIT: Oh would you look at that, I'm size 5 again. Darned.

So basically, I'm down another 5m and 10 weight... This is becoming quite a complicated puzzle.
