Sure, it's easiest code-wise, but since when have players started caring about ease of coding? Isn't everything doable overnight? Or heck, you can have two nights for big projects, like redesigning Aetherspace to allow people to use airlocks and shoot aetherbeasts with aether-charged laser rifles. Just because you're lazy, of course, not because you need that much time. quickexit.gif

To make you ask. smile.gif

(More seriously, it's intended to help limit how many are out there, though there are other factors involved on that end as well. I think as cults become more known and what is involved, the costs will justify themselves. They're definitely a massive essence drop (for both avatars and gods), but they're worth it (in my opinion). )

Plus, what do they do?

You wear weird robes, drink Kool-aid, then die.

Also orgies.

Oh! Right. It's +10%, its real benefit is probably that it's all city-members in the current room that have the benefit.

(Not that +10% is anything to sneeze at, it's just the same as say Vendetta)

What? No thanks. Pre-emptive nerf, please. twitch.gif

As I looked at the whole situation, I have come to the conclusion that the weights are actually fine as is. Instead, what needs to be done is reduce the spread on possible points between each group to a total of 50. So Demigods would have 50, Vernal Demigods would have 75, and Ascendants would have 100.

If the idea is to make everyone weaker all around, then this is a good idea. The gaps between demi, vernal demi, and ascendant just feel too great at the moment. I'm actually tempted along the line of thinking Lendren is, to see if I can eventually work for a VA raising just to have it immediately stripped, so I can get that extra weight that is simply so prominent.

Though, somehow I think that would be considered gaming the system, or being inappropriate in the context of how vernal ascendant raising is supposed to be used and done. Admin input on this point would be useful.

I think Eventru said earlier (in this thread even, I think) that that would be okay. Lemme see if I can go digging...

I don't personally see the problem with it. If your org wants to limit themselves to 1 Ascendant and spend 1.5m power on you, well, I guess that's their decision, no? If you leave your org, you lose the 'Vernal' status, Ascendant or not.

A question on cults....what is the difference between them in the same order?

Each cult is essentially fully customizable. They also have culthelp files this time around, altars, nifty names if we want to give them one...

The design worked around the belief gods have multiple 'aspects'. The most glaring example would be Lisaera - who could have a cult that venerated the Silver Mother aspect, another the Wisened Crone, a third the Spring Maiden.

They also have cult ranks (1-10) that the head can edit, and the nifty Veneration skillset... I'll be the first to say it's largely designed around god realms, with a majority of its basic rites only working within them, or working on getting to them. As time goes on the rites grow more powerful, affecting the whole realm, some can be used outside and affect the whole cult. It's a hodgepodge, really. Nothing I think would be very 'imbalancing' on the grand scale of combat, but is definitely good and fun for defending your realm and things of that nature.

With a couple roleplay abilities thrown in, too.

Personally I want Demi just for the Death-flavoured custom entries. Yowza.

Good! I hope so!

Maybe if I told you everyone in the cult had access to Veneration you'd be more inclined to do it.

Hi, still waiting to hear how any power debts are going to be handled. 10k per day? 50, 100? Everything we have, and then all positive gains until it is repaid? I realize maybe you're not answering because you haven't decided, but uh, since the clock is ticking on this 1 week to strip VAs for a refund thing, could you maybe make that call and let us know now-ish? Sorry to ask again, but I think it pertains to at least 3 orgs.
