Sweet, those were the only two I was upset about losing. Though I'd probably have missed omniscience if I had ever transed. Hope that one can still be purchased. =p

I think everything in Ascendance has returned in some form or another, plus some new stuff! There's a lot specifically for ascendants.

No. Conquest power pool is for discretionary powers and guards only - you cannot use it towards an Ascendant, so obviously wouldn't towards an ascendant debt.

I believe Estarra's already said how it's going to go.

Orgs will be given the opportunity to strip any ascendants they want to. After a set period of time (probably like a week, I believe), any remaining ascendants will be calculated towards a 'debt' (what would have been the cost to raise them under the new system), and then there will be a daily decrement (real life day) until the debt is made up.

Please give Serenwilde more than a week. sad.gif

(At least more than the time it takes for a CL election to resolve, just in caaase.)

I think you misunderstood my question. I also was probably not clear enough.

During all of the previous discussion there was talk of a daily upkeep exponentially proportionate to the # of ascendants an org had. Would this upkeep be taken from the conquest pool, as guard upkeep? Not the debt or not the raising, but just the upkeep.
Unknown2010-07-25 22:37:41
Upkeep -is- the debt. That is, repayments of the debt are forced every weave. So I don't think so.

As far as I understood it (from the initial discussion), there'll be both a debt and upkeep per ascendant. Then again, solutions were tossed rather often and wide, so I might've missed a turn somewhere.
Krellan2010-07-25 22:40:03
No that is different. There's a debt but once the debt is cleared, there will be upkeep costs for keeping any remaining ascendants.

Upkeep is constant, Debt is not forever

Alright... Uhm... There's 27 new abilities that only Ascendants can access, three based on each domoth. Some domoths will have more combat-oriented effects than others, and some will be purely utility-oriented, most will have a mix of both.

Retired vernal ascendants won't be forgotten, and will have some advantages over normal demigods.

There's also the ability for avatars to (for a big cost) gain the ability to form a cult, which will be based around a cult altar and coven-esque rituals that can require multiple cult members to perform. A big underlying theme with cults is devoted to the idea of venerating 'aspects' of a god, so multiple cults to one god won't be feeling like overlaps or identical. Cults will require a god with a godrealm, because of how closely the two are linked. The number of cults a god can have will be relative to the size of his godrealm.

What about Demigods?

Cause I'll never ever get to be an Ascendant. Demigod is as high as I can ever hope to be. Anything cool going on there?

dribble.gif I'll likely never be able to play with either of those things, but oooooooohhhh.... Sounds awesome! Hopefully you've added a few new goodies for us Demis as well biggrin.gif

Now I'm looking forward to the change even more!

Since ascendants are about to become far scarcer than they already are, and there will almost certainly be few if any new ones, that's what we're almost all wondering.
Aicuthi2010-07-25 22:53:37
Wait, why are people talking about losing ascendancy?

Because keeping more then 2-3 is going to cost a HUGE amount of power beyond what any org can afford.
Esano2010-07-25 22:55:43
Can we be informed of the scaling power costs ASAP, even before the things are released, so we can start looking at how many need to be dropped, and deciding who?

Longer is better in this circumstance, and we kinda need exact numbers.

Wait, why are people talking about losing ascendancy?

In essence, there'll be power upkeep depending on the number of ascendants. One is free, two is 1k per weave, two is 2k, three is 4k etc (if it's the same as was discussed earlier). Thus, there'll be a very limited number of slots for VAs (most orgs will only be able to cope with one or two, Glom might get away with three). Currently there are far more VAs than that, so some have to go due to power budgets.
Noola2010-07-25 22:59:14
Yeah, so the only way new people will get Ascendancy is if they happen to be lucky enough (and able to fight well enough) to win the yearly True Ascendancy thing. Or if one of their org's VAs leaves the game and they happen to be a good enough fighter to be picked to replace them.

So, those of us who are on the sucky side of fighting, we'll never ever, ever, get to do it.

So, hopefully, there's some cool stuff going on with Demigods! laugh.gif

The original thread discussing end-game is here, by the way.
Lehki2010-07-25 23:04:04
I know there's some people in power that support strong RP ascendants. And If I ever went dormant for like a month or more, I'd expect them to strip me put in a replacement if they could afford it at the time.
Lorina2010-07-25 23:28:42
I can't wait for cults...There will be naked sacrifices...
