Very intriguing. Making the arpee flavour things cost essence but not weight points would make them more available, I'd say. I know a lot of people are thinking of sacrificing flavour for utility right now and that'd be a bump up, I think.
Unknown2010-08-10 05:38:45
I made an example in my post before this one about the double weights, since i felt that was the most unclear part. I assume the 1 mil only/0 essence/80k essence per RL issue was self-explanatory.
Rika2010-08-10 06:07:53
I like Shuyin's suggestions. All of them.
Azula2010-08-10 06:46:53
I'd like to commend Shuyin for these sound proposals, and I support it too! <3

I like the weight limit forcing a choice between PK and utility.
I don't consider RP things, like custom enter, exit, and look messages, "utility". I think that's why their current weighted cost feels wrong. Fast travel is utility, dodging cows is utility, a second tradeskill is utility.

Shuyin's suggestions are great, I like them. Especially dropping the weight for custom messages, but not removing it completely.
Krellan2010-08-10 07:47:51
this system let's people put their money where their mouth is. I want more RP well, prove it and take the RP route.
on another note, toss in regeneration as buyables. Demigod used to have level 3 regeneration everywhere. It'd be a good add in I feel.

I actually wouldn't mind the regenerations coming back as buyable powers, myself.
Eldanien2010-08-10 07:59:03
I'd rather see boosted regeneration be buyable, not inherent. It always struck me as somehow unfair that certain races with regeneration got screwed over at demigod. IE, everyone got as a bonus what they paid for in racial stat weaknesses or other maluses.

I'm still sad that I have to use my weight points AND pay the Ephemeral cost. I only get an hour or two a day, and I try to hunt/influence during that time as much as I can, but I'm only sitting at about 26 million essence now. It'll take me several months just to get back to the abilities/perks that I had yesterday, not to mention anything new and cool. What happened to Esano's suggestion of paying either essence OR using the weight points?
Siam2010-08-10 09:55:12
- I support dropping or drastically lowering weights (0.5-1 weights go) especially for the flavour stuff. They cost a LOT of essence already, and they'd hardly affect combat(talking about entrance/exit/port/shout).
- the gap between CustomZap and ChoiceZap's cost is -TOO- wide. Please be more reasonable with this.
-Nature Domoth for ascendants could be improved!

I'm just waking up, so I'll come back later and read more fully.
I just wanted to comment that the reason Ephemeral powers exist altogether is that we wanted the option for endgamers to say, 'Okay, there's xyz going on. I want to be as overpowered as I can be,' and for them to do it. If Shuyin wanted to spend (god awful amounts of essence) and go marching into the Final Trial of Ascensions, well, god damnit, I say let him eat cake. The same for demigods.
I don't see lowering the stat weights so that everyone can have all +2 stats without much of an effect - arguably, I can't see any reason a shadowdancer would buy strength or dexterity, in example. It's a choice you get to make, which do you need, which are excessive. That's just my initial reaction, anyways. Time for coffee. (With baileys, maybe, if there's as much complaining elsewhere on the forum as I might expect...)

Question:
Do Vernal Demigods get access to any of the domoth related powers at all, or just to everything demigods get (which was what they had before, plus planarquickening and secondtradeskill)?
If they don't, I think some adjustment to their full supernumerary total can be considered, or some means of limited access to one seal's powers can be granted. But perhaps it might be best to settle on more specific, lower supernumerary costs before making any such judgments.

In counter to the stat argument. Illuminati have a STR based attack, CHA based attack, and an INT based attack. Dexterity is good for -everyone- since it helps parry/stance, and Constitution = more health. Back to Illuminati for a moment though, they are also the only guild who take a NERF as the spec race in their bashing/Claw attack because Dracnari lose STR by becoming Illuminated. So that makes buying STR even more important for them.
So saying 'I don't see why...." just means that you didn't really take much into account or you would know why.

They can have 1 Ascendant power.

What variety! Well, you Illuminaughty are new, and you weren't my project, so I shield myself with that fact. (I want to say, also, illuminati hands do more damage than a symbol, because it's str-based, so an illuminati dracnari should do about average compared to, say, a merian celestine. I want to say. I think. I heard.)

Except, we actually do less than cosmicfire, or we did last testing phase, because our damage is still bugged, or was last testing phase. Nor does it change the fact we are still the only guild to be nerfed by choosing our spec race

I think the lowering of stat buffs would be better so if you do sacrifice 3 other stat buffs that leaves you with enough weight points to get some cool do flavored powers. Like most everyone else has said. I'm all for dfire being removed or adding in a cheaper costing oexplicativecerenjustoverlinkedaretardedamountofgoatsandidonthaveacharismarunewi

When did you go aqua/Celestine?
Unknown2010-08-10 15:43:19
I like Shooey's idea for reducing RP ability costs, though I think that it's reasonable to make the +2 stat bonuses a pick and choose thing. I would also like to propose that you be able to have "Zap" inherently, but in order to make it actually do damage/be a custom appearance, you would have to buy an upgrade for it.
Just my two copper.
