while we bring back level 3 regeneration for buyables why not another +1 per stat buyable? Demigods originally had +3 all stats. Make the second stat more expensive just as you did with the ascendant 4th trade skill 80 mil plus 80 weight. Maybe not in that huge sort of way, but a way that makes them sacrifice things like divine fire

Regarding the original post:
Good ideas. Narrowing the gap and adjusting costs would have a healthy effect on the opinions of this thing. The adjustments to stats are important too, as well as the size thing.
Why? Because different archetypes benefit from different stats, and some are more dependent on those different stats than others. Knights, for example, have a love-hate relationship with strength. Love because it increases their effectiveness. Hate because they've been directly and indirectly balanced around having the high strength. Knights and monks have both been relying on enlarge/shrink to tweak their stats for associated reasons, so the result is, now they probably feel pretty pidgeon holed into what choices they can make.
So good ideas Shuyin!
As for the later-in-thread stuff about regen. I'm happy we kept it inherent. Lets not look a gift horse in the mouth, there's few enough weight points and high enough essence points to go around as it is without throwing in another potentially "must have". -even if it's only increased regen of what we DO have, it will all to easily be considered a "must". A bit like throwing up in an already-often-considered-rancid punch bowl at this point.
Also, regarding more stat buyables- we don't need that, we don't want some TA knight running around flooring people with very high strength, resulting in the game being balanced around such an outlier, meaning that anyone not practically able to get the same strength is semi-screwed.

Shuyin's suggestions sound pretty decent to me.
I don't really see a problem with people being able to repurchase stats back to +3 with all of the changes to stats weights and diminishing returns that have gone on. Actually when it comes to damage being out of whack these days, I think it has more to do with the number direct damage boost buffs and not how high a person's stats are.
