Given how Grace also has some other meanings, I suggest BlessingOfAgility.
That works. Just something more representative of what it is.

Agreed. It confused the heck out of me when it first arrived...

Idea; maybe allow seal bearers the ability to get the choiceenter/exit/look/teleport stuff only for their specific seal for free, no essence/weight cost

Does this include people "marked by the seal" and not actual physical holders of the medallion? If not it should!
Vathael2010-08-18 14:51:34
Why the hell can't I edit my post? anyway... In the same light (though slightly off topic) does domoth claiming work in the same manner. For example, since I do not have the medallion (sold it cause I already had circlet and torus) but am "marked by the seal of death" can I claim the death domoth faster than a normal demigod? Or however the system for sealbearers works now.

as far as this is concerned, I'm ok with it, seems reasonable to let them get the one seal flavoured message for free
as far as domoth stuff is concerned, I don't know, take Death from Thalkros and find out!

If it doesn't work that way, I don't want to be the one stuck doing it. demigod claiming sucks, or did last time i did it a year or more ago.
Veyrzhul2010-08-18 15:32:34
I'm fairly sure that I didn't get a claiming bonus for Harmony any more once I had traded in the medallion.
Eventru2010-08-18 16:50:24
We've no plans to give sealbearers additional bonuses to the existing free cubix plus and circlet.
And all sealbearer benefits are lost if you trade in your medallion.

I quite like that idea of the flavour stuff tied to your domoth being available without further purchase, especially as a TA. -windblow-
But, besides that bit of unnecessary greed, I'd think the caster attack/consumption ideas would be dandy add-ins instead.

Question for future reference, since I don't feel like bumping up the vernal ascendant thread (even thought it is more appropriate) and because it will be a while before any player can answer this question...
Does raising a demigod to VA level still cut their essence pool down to ~30% of its original total? Or is that going to be revised?

Can the beast powers (urlife, compatriotofchaos, peacefulcompanion, sanctityofbody) be reviewed? Currently they're only usable one day a month, which is ... pretty horrible. Can we change it to a certain amount out of every hour (like HavocCry and JudiciousPresence) or implement a scaling cost per use in an hour or day (like BreathOfLife)?
Unknown2010-08-21 08:05:47
I'd be pretty down with reducing the length of the beast powers to 10-15 minutes but make it usable once per IC day myself.
Xiel2010-08-21 09:31:15
I agree with the sentiment about beasts.
I also have a question about QuietMind; namely, how big of an influence bump is it? If it's just a level one bump (in which case, a lot of things that already bump influencing already beat the ability considering they're cheaper), I don't think 35 weight and 18mil essence warrants that boost. Specific statistics about the ability would help garner more information about it, if folk know.
Also, do influence boosts have a cap? I mean, I know statistics and regeneration all have caps, but do influence boosts? If they do, does QuietMind get limited by that cap, or does it exceed it?

I'm still looking for a review of Aegis and OstensibleDreamer myself. Neither are really worth what they're set at; could easily drop it to a 30-35 weight on each and halve the essence cost (Aegis is more than twice the cost of Destruction).
I'm still also rather distressed about that 80,600,000 essence that has gone poof, especially when the early adopters into this system got their essence back. Not quite getting why the two are being treated differently. That's a good 20% of my overall essence pool that's gone poof; a significant chunk more for other Ascendants / ex-Ascendants.
When the thing I want the most (aegis) is priced at a rate that I can't justify buying it because it's nowhere near worth the cost it's pegged at, and there's a huge supply of missing essence... well, I'm a person who likes to plan things out, determine what I am going to buy before I buy anything, and I'm still hopeful that these will be looked at.

So, it's been a week or so since I've been monitoring Nature's Harvest, and came up with the following conclusions:
-It is strictly on a 25 hour cycle. You can't collect again until precisely 25 hours later from the initial time you harvested. This means that to 'maximize' your gains from the ability, you'll need some precise timing on your part and staying awake to speed up your chances of harvesting as much as you'd want from the throne, or you'd be waiting more time in between harvests.
-The maximum (even though claims state the amount is capable of reaching 200) amount I've seen so far is 125 herbs out of a pool of . I just harvested again and got a bunch of 20 rawtea.
To me, these effects and limitations does not warrant a weight of 20 and 12mil for an Ascendant power. In no way can I see someone opting out 20 points in favour of Harvest as opposed to other options like HavocCry/JudiciousPresence + another toy. As the only tester of the ability that I know of, I honestly don't see people having to make a 'hard' decision between this ability and another.
Sounding like the broken record that I can be, would it be possible to look at any of the following suggestions to get some consideration thrown in for Harvest?
-Change the cycle from the 25 hour count to the IC month change.
-Raise the possible amount of collected herbs from 1 - 200 to 200 - 400 to justify that cost.
-Instead of collecting mundane herbs, add some actual flavour to the ability by collecting something else other than regularly acquired plants. In keeping with the same limitations as it is now (once an IC month), enable Harvest to collect a random blessing that lasts 24 hours or so that draws from a pool of possible mini-buffs that range from say, a level one (always one) critical hit boost/health amount/mana amount/ego amount/experience gain/damage reduction (think divinefavour damage reduction with that limitation of not being cumulative when paired with an actual favour, probably a lesser amount)/health regeneration/mana regeneration/ego regeneration/something else that'd give more flavour and desirability to Harvest other than the current chance for a bunch of 50 flax.
I'm all for adding more flavour to a skill in exchange for the possible utility because, I at least think, 12mil for a small bunch of herbs really isn't going to draw peoples' attention much.
P.S. I'd argue the third solution for FortunateWindfalls too, but either people really like the idea of 10 - 200 gems/metal bars, or people just haven't experienced it yet. I'd say instead of those pool of buffs though, a (weighted?) statistical bump of two statistics randomly each IC month would be nicer.

Because I got interested in the maths....
30 minutes = 180 beast commands.
12 * 30 = 2160 beast commands.
The various beast powers cost (lowest) 8 million essence.
As an ephemeral power, therefore, assuming you use it on every balance immediately for the entirety of each half hour:
8000000/2160 = 3703.7.
3703 essence per use of breathe plague or whatever, just looking at ephemeral costs. It doesn't even last long enough to be worthwhile for the whole "buy it when you really need it" - the Ascendant Final Challenge will last a lot longer than half an hour - it went into several hours last time. From memory, even the wargames lasted longer than half an hour.
So, uh. Make worthwhile please?
Veyrzhul2010-08-23 13:35:08
I personally think the beast powers could well be made permanent, the cost maybe raised a bit. If the powers are considered too good, they're also too good within that one hour of the day they can be used, so they might need to be reviewed anyway. If they're not unbalancing, make them proper beast power for the amount of essence spent and weight used.
