It seems handing in comm quests sometimes still doesn't make the price budge at all. Not quite sure what's happening there, it's surely not supposed to make the hard working person wait about for the fruit of their labours.

If you look back at my number crunching thread, you'll see that turning in rockeaters when gem supply is near null only results in price drops at certain increments... then, suddenly, they'll start dropping on every turn-in after a certain point.

For reference, "some amount" in this case actually means something in the realm of 2850 assorted commodities.
It definitely wasn't lesser than the amount lost, but what might be more important to consider is how this loss concerns those who aren't a part of the org receiving the tithe. It reflects more than 50% of what was given to Glomdoring, which is still a sizable bit.

Well no. At the weave, 3019 commodities were flat out removed from village stock in Glomdoring's 7 villages. I can't account for the other 6, though I will go out on a limb and assume that the trend is not unique to Glom-held villages. Our tithes totaled 2784. Of this amount, most of these commodities were created in the tithing process. This has always occurred. For example, Ptoma tithed 135 iron. Before the weave it had 133 in stock, afterwards, 101 - so 103 were created - new comms that didn't exist before the tithe.
At the same time, Ptoma tithed zero steel, yet 69 vanished from the village. It tithed no platinum, cloth, rope, gems, silk, fruit, or vegetables either... yet 209 total of these items were simply removed from the game. This is the troubling part, and where the number that Xenthos quoted comes from.
Tithes are very high, at present - something which I think can be accounted for by the fact that no one is buying from villages at all, thus their stock of the things they produce is high across the board. Presumably tithes are larger when the village has already met its target stock - this would correlate to what happened in the old system - and presently this is occurring all over the place. I'm not complaining about the size of tithes, I'm trying to account for the discrepancy in the numbers. Rikenfriez tithed a total of 90 items. 486 items were removed from their available stock. The amount of stock removed from the village was higher than the amount given to Glomdoring for every single item...so what is happening to the missing stock?
I know that we are still hovering over 'wait and see' as concerns commodities in general, but it's difficult to give feedback when we're unsure what's supposed to be happening. If an administrator could explain how tithing works, this would be appreciated.

Then where did Xenthos' 1717 come from? Was that the weave before, and not the last weave? Because I must admit, I wasn't counting those - all I did was count the tithe total for a most recent weave.

1717 is the net loss, the commodities that around accounted for. Estelbar was debited 76 wood, we only got 24... so 52 are unaccounted for. All those cases, totaled up.

It's not even counting the amount that was 'created' as part of the tithing process; thus, the destroyed amount is actually greater. We just have no idea how much it really is.
So, 1717 is about all we can say, I guess. And some undetermined amount more.

What I was looking at is price not dropping despite a stock of 300 or 500. I turned in 25 rockeaters a few days ago in Angkrag when the stock was over 300 and the price matching it nearly, no effect. Similarly with silk today in Dairuchi, at stock of 400 first batch of 4 spinnerets lowered the price by two from 115 to 113, but another batch did nothing.

Where you do the quests matters. The villages that produce commodities (as Angkrag to gems and Dairuchi to silk) have a higher threshold to reach the base price, resulting in much less variation in the price based on stock. The benefit of this is more stable prices for those comms in those villages. Try turning in silk or rockeaters in Acknor, you'll see the prices jump far more dramatically.
Nariah2010-09-04 04:57:53
That might be it. Though the issue with the rockeaters really confused me, their price and stock was rather high and still didn't budge. I'll keep numbers next time.

Obviously the missing comms were stolen by bandits/ the Gnafia/ toys/used in the carts made to transport the tithes to Glomdoring/used in Eventru's new throne. Its not a bug, its an event.

I have been blaming it on the Gnafia IC, yes.
If you find any cheap comms that fell off the back of a hippogriff, let me know.
Thendis2010-09-04 13:46:55
I suspect the missing amount represents the amount the citizens are using.
WHY they are using so much and what they are doing with it, I have no clue.

Since Glomdoring is conquest type government is it possible those unaccounted for were distributed to the conquest pool?

They're disappearing right at the weave. 00:00 GMT - comms are there. 00:02GMT - comms are not there. No one is coming in to shop in that small window, let alone for all the comms in all the villages. Do you mean the npc village citizens/denizens? I suppose it's possible that's what's intended, though it seems like a weird way of doing it...more likely it's a bug, but this has not been clarified.

The conquest pool doesn't have anything to do with comms, just power.

I am reading too much into the helpfile then.. I assumed comms were apart of the resources that went into the pool.

Think he means this:
Also, villages under the sphere of influence of a conquest government will produce less commodities and less power but naturally become more enthralled with that government.

Producing less comms != destroying thousands of them for no reason after they've already been produced.

I'll quote a few lines up.
Villages under these governments will donate their own resources towards their sovereign nation, adding to a more Conquest Pool.
Really depends on what "resources" means here. I think the idea is that villages will produce a set amount of comms/power regardless of political structure, but the amount tithed changes.
