I used to get all my lumber from Charune's realm. whistling.gif

Glomdoring has lumber production down to a freaky precise science. It doesn't mean that the Basin is overflowing with wood. Still, the only issue there is what's lost in the non-tithes, since there's only one harvest per year, unless that's been fixed.

Pretty much.

Ideally, if people want more wood, they will try to learn what weights trees need to reach before they start dropping decent lumber, and stop rampantly chopping them in neutral prime areas just to try and get lucky. Faethorn is kind of a lost cause... so maybe a few new, harmless forested areas on prime might be the best answer for the overall population of the game.

The clear answer, then, is to release a jungle for more wood and lumber >.>.

They won't release any jungle, cause then we can get chocolate.

And you know the day they do that, there will be eleventybillion new designs in submission the day after.

Hmm, does Celest's park count as "forest"? chin.gif

Some of the prices still seem pretty high for things like, say, silk. Other than that everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

Would the idea of introducing more commodity quests to help bump things like grain, vegetables, fruits, and ores be considered? I mean, I think it'd be dandy if say, maybe the dwarves in the Chancel held raw iron/gold/silver/platinum/marble ores to be turned into the villages to help boost that up a bit without altogether changing the comm quest code and adding shinier mini-stuff to the game.

Same with maybe those trill gardeners/orchard people in Clarramore for raw fruit comms, those elfen in the Dell for hemp (random idea), and maybe the hyfae/kryden inhabitants for raw grain and vegetable comms. I wouldn't mind if some spiders dropped spinnerets for silk either.

Obviously, I'm not asking for -all- of those critters to drop those comms (since that'd kinda be insane), but ways to gather those raw commodities to slightly boost production in our own villages would be nice and good for some questing, I'd think. Well, that and a way of getting them without slaughtering our own people anyway (since furrikin farmers, hemp farmers and dwarven miners are all greedy and kinda need to be killed (counterproductive) just to get the raw comms they hold).

No, pretty sure it's garden. I remember trying to grow a tree at it before hai'Gloh.

Well, that's no fun.

Here's a thought! What if, bashing a certain number of weevils each day ensures that all the druidic trees in that forest get a bit of extra growth? You could stagger it out at certain numbers if you're worried about it being too efficient.

In turn, cities can get... uh... hmm.
Varrin2010-09-07 10:22:29
Finally some numbers I can comprehend.

My issue with trees is that it takes a forestal to plant one... the protected secret of planting trees. Put it in environment pls.

Trees are made by druids. Druids need them to stop mages from melding over their melds. It's not a skill that was made to grow trees for the sake of trees tongue.gif

It makes a lot more sense to have only druids able to plant trees, than to have only villagers able to figure out the middle step between cutting down trees, and sawing up planks to make tables.

.... poor Artisans. sad.gif Ya'll would be even more screw'd.
Nariah2010-09-09 12:24:12
Everything's been looking spiffy so far, with fairly balanced reasonable prices over all.

The only thing I would like to continue whining about is for spinnerets to have a greater impact on silk stock and price and/or for an easier way to make them en masse.

Yes, that was way back then when artisan nor tracking were introduced. Since then lumber demand had gone up and trees have ceased to be used only for melds or forest protection.
Kiradawea2010-09-09 21:00:07
I thought trees were made from the nuts of Moonhart and Ravenwood.
Unknown2010-09-09 21:19:57
Different types of trees.

As much as I wish I could agree with this, the fact is, the skill by which druids plant saplings that protect melds (and eventually, produce lumber) came well after artisan and tracking were introduced.
