It's simply ridiculous and I cannot see how just increasing the power cost of badluck changes -anything- about it, unless you make it 10 power for the minute.
Maybe it's not even only badluck but the whole skillset, but I think badluck is the core of it.

I think one important part of the problem is that half of the curing for temporary insanity (focus mind) is turned against you by Badluck. Not only does it mean you might gain insanity instead of curing it, at the same time it stalls your offense greatly.

Right, not when it ticks... but I think this log deserves a bit more of a statement from your side than that.

Actually you can cure insanity just fine against a templar with just pennyroyal. What you should be running to the forums crying about is the bug we were told was fixed being back, and that being that he illuminated you at moderate insanity. Which actually means this whole thread is a posting of a bug, which means it should be deleted for posting bugs on forums.

I wouldn't call this 'curing just fine', considering I was at moderate within fairly short time and him not even trying to put up a full offense including weapon attacks with poisons. Adding dulak into the equation (or mantakaya, should badluck also proc on focus body) would make this harder, not easier.

The stacking balance loss needs to go so you can actually use what's listed under 'HELP CURELIST' to cure insanity without running the risk of being completely immobilized forever. Failing to cure with focus mind now and then and experiencing a short balance loss for that is fine, but right now, it's quite infeasible as a cure for something it SHOULD cure.

Also, for anyone with a mediocre or bad link, chasing balances happens via spamming attacks. It's not visible in this log, but from what I recall, badluck can also proc on mere attempts to attack, even if you're off balance. That needs to change; otherwise, badluck also slows down anyone who doesn't have his system track balances and send attacks (which is simply not feasible for people with a suboptimal link).

Badluck doesn't proc, period, if you are off balance except in the case of focus. So, no it doesn't proc on spamming attacks even if you are off balance already.

Also mantakaya has zero to do with your curing insanity, badluck doesn't give insanity if it procs. You having to focus body has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to eat pennyroyal. So, no, mantakaya would not have made your curing insanity harder. Dulak I will grant you, assuming it stuck. Getting you to moderate insanity is not much and you should have dropped that down again to slight or none before he could get you to massive. Against a templar, curing insanity is not hard with just pennyroyal. The issue is a bug we were told was fixed, seems to have come back and before you could cure your insanity down further you got illuminated at a point you shouldn't have been.

Edit:: oh, and I have logs of sparring sadie (from her PoV) where she used focus mind under badluck plenty of times to cure insanity without a single proc of badluck, let alone a balance stack, so needing to risk it now and then is sometimes something you need to do. Granted the jinx ate her alive on everything else, but hey that's jinx not badluck!

True about mantakaya not causing more insanity, but I would have the choice between being paralysed or risking more balance loss while STAYING paralysed.

I don't see why he would out-afflict me with insanity to moderate and why I should then suddenly outcure him on the way to massive insanity.

That you have a log or ten where Sadie happens to get lucky and get through some focus minds doesn't really prove anything but that randomness involves chance.

My point in this case is that focus mind is still a bad idea. Obviously the above log would have been less post-worthy for me had I noticed the issue with Illumination and insanity status.
If you, quite opposite to your prior statement in the other thread, tell me now that focusing mind is the way to go under badluck, I'm very willing to give that a try and see how it goes. And share the results.

What I said was, sometimes you have to risk it. Spamming focus mind is -never- a good idea under badluck. Taking a risk to drop insanity though when you need to can be useful. Try to keep up with what is said and not what you think is said.

To clarify, the correct practice is to stop your system from focusing mind, but not being afraid to punch in your focus mind alias.

Of course you have to risk it if you want to simply delay Illumination. Even if it puts you off balance, you're still escaping massive insanity a tad longer with the times it does work. Is an emergency defensive mechanism helpful which potentially has you completely stuck? I think not.

How about focus body? Is that affected by badluck?
