If vitae has no disadvantage and no reason you wouldn't constantly have it up, what you're really saying is, let's make a blanket reduction in the penalty for dying, and give alchemists a little bit more profit. In which case, why not just eliminate vitae and let everyone have the reduced penalty all the time.
Vitae has a down side on purpose.

Vitae is not an automatic double death, most people utilize it to escape just fine. Its harder when you like to hunt/die indoors so you cant cubix out though.

Solution: Stop hunting. Influence guards in your org's territory instead. All the XP gain with none of the risk!

Dysolis has no org.

Or so you think.

He is a proud citizen of the Grand Dominion of DysolisImaginaryCity.
With that aside, I think if you bash in enemy territory you should expect to get jumped, that is until you get your bluff in and no one wants to jump you, which you haven't done. Not meant to seem insulting, just saying.
It's like the time someone asked Ceren why he didn't have a gem of cloaking. He asked them if they would jump him, they said no, and he said that's why.
At any rate, I think the chance of dying twice due to using vitae is just one of those risks of using it and does not need changed. It's why I don't use it because in my eyes, if something happened that caused mento die once then I am most likely going to die a second time. A waste.

Kind of makes you wonder how we ever survived BEFORE the multiple incredible nerfs to death penalties, if we are arguing about vitae.
Dysolis2010-08-30 17:32:26
What was the death penalty for praying before? 30 percent?
Lendren2010-08-30 18:32:59
There's never been a formula you could easily convert to a percentage at a particular level since different levels take different amounts of experience. But it's been reduced generally, and in many specific cases, and things that reduce it like vitae and various skills are more widely available than ever. They're also more equally available in various orgs (though still not entirely fairly). Making vitae so you could always use it without penalty would mean all those skills were kind of redundant; all they'd do is save you a sip of vitae.
Dysolis2010-08-30 20:48:36
Then I suggest remove vitae and give all resurrect skills a buff like feature that vitae has.
Lendren2010-08-31 10:47:04
What "buff like feature" do you think vitae has?
Dysolis2010-08-31 13:24:32
Vitae adds a buff that says when you die you come back to life. I think that the resurrect skills should act like a vitae. This message here
"The power of the elixir vitae flows through your veins".

Some resurrection abilities do that already. Some don't. Variety can be a good thing.
Lendren2010-08-31 13:31:38
...so he's just asking for a line in DEF, is that it?
Well, as long as we've identified what's really important here.

Dysolis2010-08-31 13:52:33
ugh.
Ileein2010-08-31 14:09:28
What he is suggesting is that all resurrection abilities act like vitae (give you a defense that resurrects you instantaneously on death) rather than having a variety as we do now, where some are active abilities and some are delayed death-prevention or -mitigation abilities. I disagree.
Furien2010-08-31 14:25:03
I thought it was appropriate.
Dysolis2010-08-31 14:44:21
The only thing I can see this applying to is Resurrect and maybe sacrifice, Lichseed is kinda like vitae.
Unknown2010-08-31 15:03:34
Oh fine, forget about Crow DarkRebirth As was previously stated, variation is good. I am not in favor of having everything work like Vitae.
