Don't know why people are crying over getting sets of vials and palettes. Palettes are great for influencers, and no loss to you, vials can be sold if you can't use them.

I actually love getting palettes, I think it's more the "that should have been an artifact!" feeling.

He visited people in the same room as me three times last night, but I never got anything.

One of those visits was Sylandra's lucky dingbat haul!

I think vials are cool, but palettes always felt to me like getting a lump of coal, except that coal can fire a forge or oven.

I got vials, which I quickly donated.

I've gotten 31 master's paint palettes from Ironbeard and the gnomes in the past, which came in quite handy when I did eventually want to paint something.

Telperion got a Great Rune of Domination

I just got a a shimmering, silver bubble pipe. Bastard came into my room while I wasn't paying attention. Can I sue?

I had Lendren, who doesn't need Ironbeard things, logged in for about ten minutes, and he got visited. My alt, who could really benefit from him more than Lendren, was logged in all day (working towards that all-important level 80!) and hasn't even seen him.

(Lendren only got a bit of gold, anyway.)
