Hey. Hey you. What should I learn?

Back to Survival Guide.

It's missing the Arts common skill though, for some strange reason.
Faymar2010-12-03 11:29:23
1. Trans telekinesis for the instakill.
2. Get Gedulah in highmagic to help you with hardlocks. A must for PvP.
3. Trans elementalism for increased demesne time. The only mage I've heard of that uses damage for kills is Fillin. I might be sorely mistaking about that.
4. Get the instakill in phantasms (that's mythical). It's nice for variety, although I think you will do just fine with the TK instakill.
5. If you like to bash a lot, then trans resilience. Otherwise trans discipline.
6. Trans discipline/resilience. Resilience and discipline is nice if you want to PvP.
7. Trans combat to help you with warriors and monks OR
8. Trans highmagic to help you with magic damage.

I would get magiclist in discernment too (Expert level), it's a great utility skill.

Dramatics helps with influencing.

Environment trans skill helps with survivability.

And sorry if people already posted my suggestions, I didn't read the entire thread.

I bolded the ones I already have laugh.gif you only looked at the old first post; my actual updated post is a couple down from the first one.

Oops, sorry. At least I tried! biggrin.gif

I'm going to co-opt this thread, if that's all right. I've got 1296 lessons from Bardic, and I find myself now with a choice, having transcended my core skills already.

I've got enough lessons to Trans Highmagic or get Mythical Discipline; those were basically the two things I was looking at. Any advice?

Well, do you want to fight? You're mostly equipped to do so. And why Mythical Discipline in particular? Most people either go straight to Transcendent; or they stop at Fabled for Focus Mind.

I'd suggest getting Focus Mind in Discipline, and after that, dumping your lessons into Resilience. The damage reduction and poison shrugging are really noticeable in all areas of the game, moreso than the Highmagic spells I doubt you'll get much use for. Consider your complete lack of Institute-specific physical DMP as well.
Unknown2010-12-07 19:53:51
I'm just gonna say that trans resilience is a lot more noticeable, at least poisons-wise, than I thought it would be. Even just for hunting! I put off learning any resilience for a long time because I like my learning to come with lots of shiny new skills, but that "You shrug off the effects of the poison" is shiny enough on its own.
Diamondais2010-12-07 20:09:14
Trans resilience should always be a learning goal, it's just so nice!

I'm gonna hijack the thread as well. :muahaha:

Get tumble Roll?
Raeri2010-12-13 10:14:01
Funnily enough, that might be cheaper than getting Tumble in Environment. (Assuming not currently furrikin!)
Unknown2010-12-13 11:33:11
Wow, I had forgotten all about Enivronment.

Erm, so, between aiming for Bodyguard in Beastmastery, Magiclist in Discernment and Tumble in Environment, did I miss anything else?

@Casilu: laugh.gif

I actually might move if Hallifax monks gets a flavour which I prefer over Gaudiguch's, and if they get Harmony (which is highly likely, seeing as we've got an Illithoid Ambassador here in Gaudiguch sad.gif ). Until then, I'm gonna stick with Illuminati thank you. happy.gif
Ileein2010-12-13 11:57:24
Which is sort of sad, given that Harmony (the skillset, not the concept!) doesn't seem like a very Hallifaxian thing. C'mon, spiritual mantras? Stealth on the other hand...
Unknown2010-12-13 12:00:36
Precisely. Both Harmony and Stealth would fit Gaudiguch, but neither really fits Hallifax...
Lendren2010-12-13 12:09:09
Some people have taken the "data redacted" thing far enough, between bureaucracy and secret police, that they figure Stealth would fit Hallifax. In some ways, I think Hallifax is an 80s version of the future more than any other -- it's not quite dystopian in the sense of Brazil or cyberpunk, but it's not quite chrome tailfins of The Gernsback Continuum either. It's more the kind of future where Thomas Dolby or Peter Schilling would fit in, about which a coin-op arcade would seem prophetic.

Time to hijack Phoebus' thread again! Thanks to gnomes (yay!) and Iron Elite, I'll have close to 400 bound credits left over after I switched to Astrology. Should I still continue to spend them on lessons, or start looking at artifacts? And if lessons, which skills?

Get Tumble, Transcend Combat.

After that you're pretty much level with me, so I expected to see you leading some armies. ninja.gif
