Nope.
We didn't ask for Ascendants to get stripped.
We didn't ask for stuff to get taken away so we could rebuy it.
We didn't ask for the crumbs they give us back to be insanely priced.
We didn't ask for the few things that were worth the cost to get neutered.
We didn't ask for essence to get taken away, with no return, for no reason.

Ummm yes you did when asking for tweaks to the system itself. The whining is like a child who asked for a new bike and is upset cause it isnt exactly like their old one.

Uh... huh. There's a huge difference between asking for new content, and asking for tweaks to an existing system.
It's more akin to asking for a motorcycle, getting told 'okay,' and having your bicycle taken away to be replaced with a unicycle. With no motorcycle to be seen.
If you want to go for silly analogies, I can play too!
End result: We did not ask for any of the things in my list. You can say 'Yes you did' all you want, but that does not make it true.

No, that is almost wholly unlike what is going on here.

I went through the old threads and found only a handful posts regarding Ascendancy-refunds. Almost all say "full or near-full refund please", there's only one that mentions 33% (and that was because it's apparently fast enough to bash as an ascendant).

Strangely, that one lone post is the entire reason we only got 1/3 back, whereas all the others asking for full refund were ignored. According to the only official statement we've received thus far on the subject.

From what I hear, Ascendants could use a little retro-lovin with the changes, but Ascendants were changed to reduce the endgame imbalance. Whatever happens, it -should- be less desirable and less powerful than what it was, which means someone will always be unhappy.
That being said, moving from a mansion to a mobile home is not the kind of move that was expected.

With the new weight system, I actually think demigods can regain some of their old buffs back, like the better regen and more stats too
Eventru2010-09-17 19:57:56
Demigod regen wasn't touched.
Krellan2010-09-17 21:13:29
I believe Shuyin is talking about the demigod change prior to this, where stats were all lowered by 1 to make demigods getting +2 stats overall. And level 3 regeneration was reduced down to level 1
I too think demigods could get regeneration back. If anything we could compromise for level 2 inherently and make an option to buy level 3 regenerations!
And ironically enough, the changes actually further increased the imbalance and difference of endgame versus not. But at the same time, this also balances the game overall with strict limitations on how many people can actually achieve this endgame. I suppose some could say that if everyone could get endgame then it would still be balanced cause everyone would be OP, but it's a tough choice to make and was already made.

I think the regeneration is fine the way it is now. It was a bit of overkill before.
And, one big difference I see now is that the orgs with the most active VD/VA/TA population AND the largest chunk of players will consistently get more benefit from things like JudiciousPresence and HavocCry. So, while it's nice that they boost everyone in your org, it's yet more and more rewarding the largest org just for being large (and for bashing day/night). That's just the nature of the beast, I know...

it's not really much different from before if you think about it. Just about everyone still has level 3 regeneration.
The main construct for every organization, crypt altars, whatever, typically give you enough regeneration to put you at level 3 given certain restrictions. Night altar is level 2 regen all at night + demigod makes it level 3 slightly less than half the time. Liches get level 2 or level 3 in taint with the crypt etc.
Just saying if you think about it, adding back regeneration doesn't actually change much.

In other words, we don't need it (but, if we got it back, then we might change our constructs).
Krellan2010-09-18 07:22:59
that's entirely different from what I was saying. You said it's overkill. I'm saying it's not overkill because we still have it. It still exists with regeneration artifacts as well. In fact, it'd probably be a nice thing to give the rest of the level 100's who didn't make it into the top 9 cool kids club.
Unknown2010-09-18 11:45:09
Right, but we had to choose those constructs over others, and we have to buy those artifacts. Your logic sounds to me like Syndrome's motto: "When everyone is super, nobody will be." In many ways, I already feel like my artifacts are nullified by abilities and easy bonuses, thus devaluing my investment. However, I have no regeneration runes because I have no need for them at this level, so I still am not quite seeing your point.

I think a lot of the people affected here are also interested to know why the essence refund wasn't 100%.
Please explain why.
Thank you.
