Katanas are popular because they are the only ones you can get 280 speed on. The other weapons have a lower cap on speed and a higher cap on some other, less good, stat.

cool.
what are maximum total stats for katanas and rapiers? 480 i saw previously, i`m guessing thats for rapiers.

I think he means afflictions that are cured by applying regeneration and afflictions that are considered prone (knockdown, paralysis) there should be a comma in there...

Tendon is a regeneration cure and instantly prones the target. Likewise, amputate leg is a double regen cure, but doesn't knock them prone.

Thanks for the great answers. In terms of runing now, is there any advantage over the other, for BM and PB?
It seems the same to me, like you can buy a 10% wound for a single blade, or 2 of the same runes equaling 10% on a katana. (for 2 handed weapons, the percentage increase from the runes are halved, all except the stat runes)

If you have a 10% on a BM blade, your *other* hand won't have the extra 10%. You end up averaging out at around the same, minus the extra prec that 2handers get.

You can get weapon stats up to 480 total with tempering, but to rune the weapon, you have to temper those stats down to 463, so buying a +5 stat rune doesn't give you much of a boost. I'd personally recommend elemental runes and bleeding runes for a BM/PB.
Would you recommend the wounding runes?

Depends on your strength and weapon stats. +10% on low wound numbers isn't so great, +10% on the upper end is amazingly helpful.
Unknown2010-09-18 02:31:52
So exactly how much of a difference would you say the bleeding wounds make then?
Xavius2010-09-18 03:35:12
I'd honestly just stay away from the weapon runes unless/until you're ready to drop a boatload on them. It's not worth down tempering until you've got ~700 credits to burn. First priority should be getting all the skills you want, since those have a much greater effect on your quality of life on a per-credit basis. If you still want an artifact after that, consider buying a mana regeneration rune, which helps offset all of athletics' stacking mana drains. Then, later, after you've decided that you do want to get heavily investing in warrior combat and you have enough practice and perspective to know what's lacking for you, you can drop that heavy credit investment on your weapons.

Good advice. What can be said about elemental runes?
