come2Glom, we're pretty witty and funny, have a good 401k and have a superb dental plan. Seen Krellan's "grill"? It was much worse before he joined.

I tend to think what I think until someone teaches me to think differently, and I agree with that line of thinking. I guess that's what leaders are for? The little I know of combat is from the few interractions I've had with Solanis and Tredian, and experimentations of my own with the spars I've had a bit of courage to indulge in. But I've had few pleasant interractions from Aubrey, and the most I see from her are shop reports. I've seen nothing of Sylphas, and all I've seen of Arimisia is a credit sale.
Sadie's tried to teach me a bit, but I keep messing up the lessons she gives me I think.
I haven't really seen the others of the Circle, save once or twice with Kiarlea and Eritheyl.
I'm new and confused, and I want what's best for where I am without changing where I am. Until someone teaches me differently, what other opinion could I have?

Reading these Tweets backwards and then forwards as well as being personally involve in the revolt that happened, I can somewhat understand where you are coming from. Just yesterday, Faymar was wiping the floor with me and he gave me an important piece of advice that I didn't even know about demesne... So I have holes in my knowledge of combat and I feel the only option available would be to find an active combatant and become their 'deshi'.
The reason I brought up the whole Divine/player conflict in my previous post springs from my feeling that the Basin might have hit a stalemate. (Za Glomdoring rulez za Basin stalemate) Personally, I don't mind being the underdog. It forces change. But stalemates can bring about boredom. And boredom brings about a lack of players. - - - Is it me or is there fewer players on nowadays?

This is NOT new. In the early days, Magnagora trounced everyone. Prior to Glomdoring being on top, Serenwilde dominated the Basin for a long time. Even New Celest has had their time holding the top seat. I would not call it a stalemate, but rather a very slow changing of the guard. Players and politics ebb and flow. The underdog today may very well tomorrow find itself on top.
Llesvelt2010-09-24 05:47:04
Indeed, I remember back when I first began to play Serenwilde really was at the spot that Glomdoring currently is.
I do not see why it should not change again in the future.

Yup, the phrase "Glomdoring rules" still turns on my sarcasm-o-meter.

Indeed. While things may look bad and bleak with Glom staying in its pretty position, there will be a day when the Mighy Glomdoring Empire is toppled. Such is the life of all empires. It is also the wonderful thing about Lusternia. No one stays in power forever. You people that say things are bad for you need to kick yourselves and your city/communemates into action and turn the tides. Glomdoring actually is a very good example of the underdog becoming top, if you look at its history.
Furien2010-09-24 06:12:44
Keeping up this train of discussion is just going to power that Perpetual Smug Machine, you know. I hear it's their version of fission.
(You're also trying to tell people to turn the tides themselves with a demonstrably limited resource ie fighters and competent people)
(Edit: Also rawr why do I keep sleeping through these things!)

I hope it doesn't end that way... I really don't care about one city/commune being on top. I just wanna enjoy my time in the Basin and 'participate'. My perception of things is not that different cities/communes go up and down. It is more like certain *very powerful* people have moved from one place to another. Or, some of them just disappear.
But I totally agree with Furien... There is a limited number of fighters competent in fighting or powerful enough to compete. And when it comes down to it... the battlefield is where everything is decided.
Llesvelt2010-09-24 06:46:56
"Where everything is decided" is a pretty general term.
Things only have power if you give them power.
But really, it is not like I actually know. I could probably just be spouting nonsense. I am just getting rather sceptical about how much fighting prowess are stressed in the game. Sure enough, it is probably fun and can be rather important if you have the right priorities, but being Alpha and Omega, meh.
There is just too much to do that can impact, even in subtle ways, for everything to be purely about PvP combat.

In that last part, I was actually being sarcastic. Sarcasm isn't something I get to practice so I'm sorry if that came off the wrong way. I agree... I think the beauty of Lusternia is that there is many levels of conflict or 'battlefields'. And your right about the things having power. It is just that I belong to a city where PvP combat is the 'defining force' in which 90% of the citizens partake in.
Once I finish my 5 year (IG time) task, I'm jumping into the Library battlefield full force... Woot!

Oh, sorry, did not spot the sarcasm.
Disregard whatever I said.

Smug On.
I'm not under any delusion that Glom will be on top forever, as people have said, before this Serenwilde was on top because the people in it did what they can to make it so.
That's all it takes. Gotta want it.

I think we both know what it'll take for Seren to get back on top.
