How much does one log entry reflect, towards that 800?

Depends on the log entry.
Ssaliss2011-12-19 15:31:01
Also depends on the family type, I believe? I.e. some families get more for influencing tics and some get less.

And your current honour level, since each amount gets decreased the higher you are...

Also, depends on your family type.

Basically there is almost no way to know now, you have to guess and pray. What was fine one year may not be fine the next.

Not really. You can see your raw values, so you know whether or not you've gained 1200 points.

Double rave! Young people letting me ramble at them like the old woman I am (but pretend I'm not), and actually being interested.

I'll second this. It's even more fun when they have no idea just -how- old you are.

You don't know what your raw value was at the start of the year. You have to guesstimate it, if something happened to affect your total prior to you logging on for that new year.

Plus other things can affect the total that don't address the 1200 required points at all; for example, the racial honour ticks happen every month.

If you just go "whew, got 1200" you're going to take a negative hit since there are uncounted additions.

So, yes really!

Rave to Vadi for taking us out on a nice, long aetherhunt last night, getting Neraiche to switch positions and let me take a turret and getting me to circle 88! You're awesome, Vadi!!

And thanks to Neraiche for letting me take your turret! <3

What I did was note how much one typical honor gain was worth (89 honor for influencing, for my cultural house at ~60k honor) and just figure, ok, so we need at least 10 of those a year to meet the 800 mark.
Xenthos2011-12-19 20:37:28
Don't you also have to account for negatives (such as the wanton killing tick)?

Well, my family doesn't really get those, so it's not an issue for me personally. We're a bunch of those pansy artist types.

But anyway it's the same idea, just try to figure out about how much it takes out so you know what you'd need to do to offset it. I asked if maybe the amounts gained/lost for each item could just be listed in the logs to make it less of a hassle to figure out the numbers, but the response was that it's probably not going to happen, so just keep an eye on your family honor and work out it manually.

Gotta say though, I like this a lot more than not being able to take a day off without incurring painful honor losses.
Xenthos2011-12-19 21:09:57
There doesn't need to be a way to list out what the gain (or loss) of each tick is in the log; there just needs to be a report you can generate that says if you're over / under the amount required for the year to avoid the loss. The function already exists in order to determine if the negative loss should happen, just need a way for players to get at it.

family housestatus was added

Everyone is happy. 2011 is an amazing year for the game.
Lendren2011-12-20 03:08:06
Well, at least I'll agree that the housestatus thing is marginally better than not having it. Big gap between there and "everyone is happy" or "amazing year" though.
Vadi2011-12-20 08:31:19
Beat a person in a village debate while two people were helping them with Laetitia. Good start!

Feel free to message me if you think there is anything we could do to help make everyone happy, or make 2011 an amazing year!

I'd like my own Shuyin please. And it'd be cool if you threw in a copy of Eventrus AI code.

Well, for this one specific thing, maybe housestatus could tell you a percentage of the way you are towards avoiding the dishonor tick. I suppose it's moot though; everyone obsessively checks the logs and numbers after each influencing so they can calculate out their budget, I'm the only one who doesn't see that as 'work', so don't listen to me.

2011 was a significantly better year for the game than 2010, or at least the second half, when I started. Many thanks to IosaiI!

I'd like my own personal Iosai. But as it is, when I say your name and you're online you show up periodically, so that's almost as good. It's always nice being able to harass a divine who will actually respond on occasion (and not zap me when I call her a liar, but I swear - I cannot advance collegium students).
