Yup, Casilu had an idea for more Company medals which I think would have been awesome. Jewelers can't seem to make them unfortunately though. ![sad.gif](style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif)

You can make them as brooches. Another character of mine designed one like that for Serenwilde back in the first few months of the game. Trouble is the same as with any "private" design: it's either available to a lot of jewelers to ignore the comments and make them anyway (what happened to mine), or you're depending on a cartel that belongs to someone who might defect or go dormant. I wish there was some way for the trademaster to flag a design at submission as belonging to a person or organization, so that person or organization can "seize" it even if the trademaster moves, like how we can deed clans.

Solution...deed a cartel! The Aquamancers seem to have done fine with Children of Water being a tailoring cartel.
Ileein2010-11-27 15:51:16
The Institute's Invisible College clan is the cartel where we keep all of our stoles. That seems to work... if we have any tailors around...
Lendren2010-11-27 15:59:32
Yeah, but getting a whole cartel just for this is a pretty expensive solution, if you don't already have one sitting around, or I would have proposed it.
My idea about deeding designs would be useful for so many other things than just this situation, too. So many designs "belong to" the customer, not the trademaster, really.

Hrm. I'm quite particular about my nouns. Had an idea for different berets for the different Company Directorates, but I still haven't done anything with it because they would have to be 'a beret hat' etc. Good to know that you can have medals though.

Heh, myself and Phoebus had a very circular discussion about clan usage. The Company already has a clan that isn't used for anything other than a place to submit Company-themed furniture designs. It would definitely be a waste for a jewelry cartel to be deeded to the guild.
On a different topic, I had a quick idea that tradesmen, rather than having to join a cartel, would be allowed look at their catalogues and 'purchase' the rights to use some of their designs and pay a recurring fee each year to continue using them. It would allow for smaller and more selective personal catalogues for the tradesman while also meaning cartels could be used to make a bit of income, reward designers etc., which is kind of the picture of a cartel I have in my head...
There might be issues with plagiarism perhaps, but shrubbing is enforced for bardics so it could just be extended to designing too. Or you could mark your cartel as private so other trademasters couldn't even browse your catalogue.

Also, Ushaara, you might try requesting a "beret" pattern in the hats category (granted I haven't seen any pattern requests implemented since May...).

Alas, I am not Minister, so it will never happen. Besides, we could be lazy and take the Everiine solution.

Just have the person the medals were awarded to add them onto their description if they want.

Huh, that is pretty lazy. Sure is simpler, though.

Man, that is one sick quest. A lot of fun, but whomever designed it must really take some sadistic pleasure in trying to kill players. The prophecy was quite interesting as well.
