Wooo, clockwork designs got accepted! Dance dance dance! And my wedding dress and veil got accepted too, sissy said, so all I have to wait for the shoes and gloves, and then wait for Pesukaru to be about so we can talk to Lord Lyreth together about the wedding. Wheee, weddings are fun! I forgot how shiny they are.

Woo, I'm a Hallifaxian Alderman! If I can do it, anyone can!

In my day, we had to walk six miles uphill both ways in the snow to get Alderman, and then when we did we got to sit down and count our frostbitten toes for entertainment! Bah! Kids these days.

Disclaimer: May or may not require you to marry into Skyplume and/or Shevat.

Ushaara did neither, so as he said, anybody can be an Alderman.

EDIT: Also, Skyplume is essentially just Phoebus now, which makes my heart sad. There's still hope, though. Nihmriel and Saaga didn't hatch the plans for Shevat until both characters were pretty old, as far as I know. It's never too late, I guess.

Daraius. Really. That's the second time you've reflected -most unflatteringly- on poor Nihmriel's age. Displeased.

It is, however, true that Shevat was only started after we'd both been playing for approximately eternity. Or thereabouts. It's not at all the same situation at this point, but I think anything can be done when everyone involved really wants it to happen, regardless of circumstances.

Okay, I'll rephrase. Both characters were mature enough to develop and pursue a common goal, and were willing to put forth the effort to make it a success.

It's not so much that you need to be a Skyplume or a Shevat to reach Alderman. It's more that they're the two most active families in Hallifax, so if you're constantly around and productive, you'll probably end up in one of the two.

But as Daraius said, it's pretty much just me who can bring people in these days. I mean, one of the other three active and family members could get hitched or somethin', but I don't dig on mass-adoptions or forcing people to expand the family. Which may be one of the reasons we're pretty much dead.

I personally think it's more that Shevat and Skyplume are the only two Hallifax-born families that still have active members at this time.

Startail has survived thus far, even though it is pretty limited... Then again, Kira is the only family member that's not a lazy sod.

Indeed, I stand corrected! For some reason I thought Startail was one of those families that transferred over from celest.

EDIT: of course, only half the family actually lives in Hallifax, and it looks like they only adopt furrikin, so for all intents and purposes they're not really a valid option for most new people that come to Halli.

2) Name is two words mashed together

Oh, and I know we like to pretend it doesn't exist, but the Somnius family was formed in Hallifax too.

Yes, but Somnius doesn't really have active members who are adopting that I am aware of, and a large portion of their family left for other cities.

Xaldrin is adopting someone right now. It's a Pyromancer.
