Well, I'm more concerned over the lack of sewers in Hallifax and Gaudiguch now!
We are, like, above ground.
By many miles.

Well, we just burn our trash and let the ash waft over to Hallifax.
Besides, our underground tunnels are all used up for secret passageways.

Why? Hallifax is the clenliest city in the basin, come look at how neat and tidy everything is. Obviously, the city has a waste-disposal-and-recycling system that makes the use of sewers superfluous.

Gaudiguch has a giant white hot flame that burns anything and anything into ash. What do we need sewers for?
My tweet? Where are those orderheads for Terentia? I hate messages, and either they're always Gemmed, or they're just sneaky devils.

You all just wanna put Tully out of work!
On an OOC level, I think both cities need sewers so they are even with the other two cities--what use is a environment skill if you can't use it in all the cities? It's like Ackleberry came back without trees. Do you guys have rooftops?
Plus, I'd love to see the creativity of the sewer and plumbing design in both cities.
I'm not even going to get into the differences between Dracnari and Lucidian poop...

We do not have rooftops, no. Pyramids and whatnot.

Gaudiguch has more than pyramids, pyramids tend to be the main important structures, i.e. the guildhalls and where the Flame is.
I did have an idea for the Gaudiguch sewer system, I still have it saved, maybe I'll flesh it out a bit once I'm on winter holiday.

I have a feeling if there was the equivalent of a sewer system, it would be akin to vertical ducts (vent system), or dumbwaiters, etc, for both cities.

What I've imagined for Gaudiguch is an underground city almost, more of a series of tunnels where the darker side of Gaudiguch takes place, or the things it likes to cover up, the bashable denizen living down there could be bandits or something who are trying to sneak into the city or whatever, I'd need to think about it. I think one of the diaries from the Scorpion quest mentions a similar set of underground tunnels that were used for escape and hiding.
edit: Someone asked me to remove this, and for now I will agree.

yeah... sorry but sewers are just one of the things that would be out of place in hallifax, ducts and dumbwaiters too if you think about it.
Anisu2010-12-05 16:31:49
I really don't think Hallifax needs to be 'equal' to other places with sewers.

Not to mention it floats. Hard to have an underground sewer system when there's no ground!
Ew, now I'm picturing waste disposal a la the Dave Matthews Band bus incident

I would expect that there are designated stations with some form of techno-magical version of the waste disposal system seen in the "Trash" episode of firefly.
edit:
Though you could potentially have the "sewers" of hallifax being the dumping ground that the system takes the waste to. Mobs could be entities that roam around recycling whatever is dumped there, though getting out would be an issue.

Well, from my post, and perhaps I was looking at it for Hallifax in the way of others, but I see for the two new cities the "sewers", meaning the area only reached through the skill sewers, would be extensions of the cities than actual sewer systems.

IG Archaeology Geek Spoilers ahead
The diaries of the Scorpion Aspects speak of the Golden Ziggurat in the city of Alin'dor, some sort of archaeological monument that had a network of tunnels beneath it, likely spanning the entirety of the city structure itself. Perhaps the ancient dracnari of the Vernal Era constructed these tunnels as a means of avoiding the blistering heat that remained of the Sakarich Forest (likely in a worse condition all those years ago); alternatively if their dwelling was not actually desert-based and more mountainous in nature they could have used the tunnels to escape the cold, as strange as that sounds.
Alin'dor was an unusual city; the ancestral home of the dracnari bearing the Edifice of Power known as the Great Pyramid and host of a popular cultural phenomenon known as the Dragon Lord's Ball, which brought in guests of all races, even the lucidian and trill. An eternal debate rages as to whether or not Tzaraziko was raised from the Great Pyramid, or perhaps the Spire of Lancenti. Either way, evidence indicates that Alin'dor was assaulted by the Soulless and completely obliterated despite the attempts of Vestera and Kiakoda to defend the place. It was only through the intervention of Grandmother Scorpion (and, by proxy, the most exalted Tzaraziko) that the lucidian and dracnari population ever survived the Soulless wars, as they were just barely rescued from the ruins of the two cities, on the brink of becoming an extinct race. Remnants of Alin'dor remain, known only to the uneducated of the Basin as that strange gap in the mountains known as the Great Pass, blown away and utterly obliterated by the Soulless assault.
Studies of Gaudiguch's layout reveal several networks of hidden tunnels spanning the subterranean depths of the city; in all likelihood these may very well be the ruined carryovers of Alin'dorian architecture, destabilized in the timequake result of the Great Loss and now collapsed into useless (but perhaps salvageable) rubble.
Notably, evidence suggests that Tzaraziko was present at neither the defense of Alin'dor or Lancenti. If it all occurred at the same time, Tzaraziko was probably stuck attempting to protect the northern Skarch settlement of Haradan against an attack by Kethuru entirely on her own, which eventually resulted in the loss of her hand and the Eye of Illith.
PS: Only the Illuminati really know what's up with Tzaraziko. *smug*
I have been waiting to do that forever.

I can see it now! Of course, the Sentinels would have to take care of anything else lurking in there first:
Yes. Getting out would be an issue.
Edit/My Tweet: Making an alt has reminded me how fun new Orgs can be, and how you never think a description you wrote at 2AM was that bad then, until you wake up the next morning and regret what you did last night.

Gaudiguch probably has a sewer system, but you're talking about underground in a noxious volcanic environment - the health problems associated with the feces would be the least of your problems. Toxic natural gasses, lack of oxygen from the heat, magma...
Elostian said the same thing I did, when someone commented on Tully's news post - Hallifax most likely recycles it. Where do you think those plebian meals come from, when there's a shortage of pigeons?
