How long has it been since Seren had Estelbar?
Since Glom began its hegemony.

Clearly, Estelbar is an Ackleberry village.

I am seriously thriving off this bitter. It is delicious.
In totally unrelated tweet: log in for lessons = probably the greatest promo ever. I'll have transed one of my supposed-to-be-stuck-at-Myth skills by the end of the month. 10 for time + 5 for membership? Amazing.

There was a brief time they won it back since then, actually, but that hasn't happened again since village feelings were implemented.

This makes me realize that there's no Glom-themed village anywhere. WOE IS US.

If you give us Talthos and Serenwilde Estelbar we will join our lobbying efforts to bring Doomygloom to the Basin.

No, silk and wood. Which will mean everyone else will want it too.

We heard you liked Aetherships, so we put an Aethership in your Aethership so you can Aetherhunt while you Aetherhunt!

Neither does Celest, really. One can make various arguments for Delport, Stewartsville, and even Paavik (probably the strongest of the three), but none are nearly on a par with the Gaudiguch-Dairuchi or Hallifax-Talthos thing. (Even the Magnagora-Angkrag connection isn't as strong as those; that association was more because for the first year no one else could get it, then for another few years it was still nearly impossible, than because of historical or cultural ties.)
City/village pairings are probably not a good idea to be increased, anyway, at least not as long as comm production is going to be different and it's going to remain the case that a few comms are crucial and the rest almost worthless. If anything, we should be reducing the close associations. Not that I'm saying thank you to Glomdoring for doing so by the expedient of continuing the progress into where nothing means anything, mind you; this is more an "if I were designing things" thought.

Well, I half agree with you regarding the top bit, Angkrag does have viscanti/magnagoran people living there.
As much as I think it's neat to have villages that do seem to belong to a certain org, I think those are better off being the unaffiliated areas (Dell, Presidio, Skarch, etc).
I do hope to get to one day explore the new villages, but currently kind of out of the question due to lack of equipment/cures.

Amateur, Journeyman, and Master Hunter all came from natural causes though.

We didn't have achievement xp bonus' when I was leveling up. We couldn't power level to 90 in a day. You all have it too easy. We didn't have all these promotions with free lessons and constant double experience and such.

When I started, mobs you were influencing could move while you were in the midst of influencing them. And if you choose to do, say, INFLUENCE MONK WITH BEGGING, it would only target the first monk in IH even if it was already influenced out. And I got to level 80 purely by influencing back then.

Angkrag is where the Viscanti Noble Houses sent their decrepit and falling-apart lich lords to 'retire'.
Hallifax and the Dwarven Kingdom fought over it often, though, back during the empire! (It's all on HELP ANGKRAG)

They sure did a lot of it. We had most of the named denizens and many of the smaller ones for the several hours I was there (though I missed the beginning.)
Think it's been pointed out that level one feelings did help, but not to the extent you're thinking about. It was a two hour revolt - hardly giving Serenwilde the time to have 'most of the named denizens and many of the smaller ones for several hours'. Towards the end, you probably got the majority of one or so repops, but in an hour, there's what..3 or 4 repops? So I wouldn't quite toss it all down to village feelings.
QUOTE (Malicia @ Oct 26 2010, 07:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Xiel, I wasn't talking about village feelings for this particular revolt but when orgs start with +3, I don't think I'd want to bother much. And in a PEACED village, alas.
Oh, in general then? No clue how things will pan out generally now, especially with the recent change to Conquest again. Needs more info to see how likely it would be to ever see level three feelings again. Wish we did have a way to see how much feelings we have/how much we just gained by doing x-thing according to org governance though, but that's my 'want to know everything' self piping up.

It's probably going to fall on deaf ears, but it was Hallifax who brought in, and asked for help from, Glomdoring. They would have easily gotten to Frosticia on their own via Aethership and without Glomdoring knowing, except that they asked Glomdoring for use of their icicle. The event, from the beginning, was geared directly at Hallifax - it was they who brought in other people. I guess the moral of the story is 'when you're given lemons, don't ask Xenthos to make you lemonade'?
This is true, really. Xenthos was deliberately staying out of this event as it seemed entirely Hallifax oriented. Even so, the only advantage had in participating in the event was getting a tipoff about the village location, which... most of you guys ignored anyway. :/ It's kind of interesting from an IC perspective the way the first revolt went. Hallifax in general places no value on martial strength, thus are forced to bring in people to do this bit -- people who in turn have no reason to wish to bolster Hallifax's political strength ahead of their own org's. Potentially, this is a great IC motivation for Hallifax to cultivate/reward its own warrior types.
Agree with Alac, we need more wyrd-centric areas that aren't Glomdoring prime. Or maybe just fix Wydyr so that the people there are remotely connected to the ig-interests of m.Night. /wishlist.

It is NOT a competitor village with Talthos, and has been paired with it (seemingly) strictly for racial reasons.
Pretty sure they are competitor villages, if you mean in terms of feelings.
Edit: My complaint about village feelings isn't entirely on feelings themselves. It's that combined with the changes they made at the same time, regarding villages being decided if one org has x points over their closest opposition. Serenwilde was even at worst, if not winning that revolt until the very end and I daresay that even with level 1 feelings for Glom, under the old system, Serenwilde should have got that in the two and a half hours we were ahead.
