I need to stop playing Lusty so late in the night. It messes with my mind.

I had a mix of Lusternia/RL in a dream last night. It was the Melishamora all over again, but it was REAL, MAN. IT WAS REAL.

Huh, another week of this? Why? Today is Sunday so I thought it'd end before the weekend at least.
So did I. If this lasts another week I'm going to just play WoW until it goes away. Being tossed around and fighting fires every few minutes is the exact opposite of fun.
Shiri2010-12-12 18:00:53
I'm getting abnormally high quantities of event-rage on MSN and similar, so I think I'd better keep my head low too. Might be nice to poke around though.

I would rage less if I saw Serens actually doing something productive for the event instead of us just walking through every room in half the forest every couple minutes to put out a fire.
Shiri2010-12-12 18:10:44
The rage is coming from other orgs too, so I dunno about that.

Not sure what productive thing there is for us to do. The forest catches fire every ten minutes, so we put it out. The prophecy said it's just going to be this for a week (only progressively worse), and nothing else we can do about it.
I sure hope we've all misinterpreted the (unusually direct-to-the-point) prophecy, because it pretty much says, "for the next week, you won't get anything productive or fun or interesting to do, plus we'll prevent you from doing anything except this make-work with no reward" which is pretty much the Platonic ideal of what an event should never be. And to what end -- to keep us all too busy to interfere with setting up the Big Bad Mob and Gather Stuff phases?
Shiri2010-12-12 18:19:56
NOOOOOO TVTROPES DAMNIT

I didn't expect them to do anything productive, just saying the event would be less horrible if there was something to do besides hope someone else puts the fire out because damned if I'm walking all around over and over again just to have someone say "Got it!" when I'm halfway through. It would at least be slightly more fun if there was large fire, but less frequently. More people could actually douse it then. As it is, it puts a lot of people out for something trivial, or everyone ignores it and lol our forest is on fire because no one checked.

Man, everybody's kinda cynical...
There's at least one "fire protection kit" in the Serenwilde BTW.

I love tvtropes. Because of that site I'm now watching an anime about a 9-year old girl who beats up other little girls and fights aliens.
But oh yes, this event. I don't really know what's going on. But the ambient messages are neat.

All that said, there is something nice about being told in advance not to really get too worked up about the thing for a week, because in the past they have done these with no timetables and thus you are hoping for something to happen every day to end the little running-around-task.
Then when it doesn't, being horribly disappointed.
I think the problem is just with the general 8+ day events where the same thing happens and there is little-to-nothing to do.
Especially when you are told to do one thing, when it is time-limited and others are not. So by the time you can do your thing it's all over and done with anyways and you might as well not even have bothered.

The thing I hate is the utterly predictability of the thing. I mean, everyone gets basically the same prophesy, and all go looking for the same thing, which someone is probably gonna steal, and this person will screw something up, which will and summon Jolly Bundy Kethuru 2.0 .
Shiri2010-12-12 18:52:21
Knowing we can't do anything for the week is pretty handy, true, I think the complaint is just that the fires and wind become even more annoying when we know we can't do anything about it.
Anisu2010-12-12 18:54:07
I wonder what happens if we all ignore the fires and let the forest burn for the next 7 rl days.
Furien2010-12-12 18:56:09
Honestly, I'm not cynical enough to think that the admin will really leave us with annoying elementals and forest fires for 8 days in a row. Somewhere along the line, a way to address the problem will come up.
Either way we should probably just drop the subject entirely before we all get banned for talking (again).

psh herbs, we have ecology to regrow them afterwards! (on an aside does nature guard protect against fire)

monopoly on forest herbs? sparkleberry, take that.

Yeah, good point, someone start a new thread if you want to continue this topic so it's discrete and easy to lock if someone decides they have to! (posts on the subject after this will be deleted)
