You shoot a single, deadly thought deep into the mind of Izekeal.
A vein on Izekeal's forehead begins to throb and blood pours down his nose. He
puts his hands to his head and screams just as his head explodes in a fountain
of gore.
You have slain Izekeal.
Your karma falls in response to your deeds.

Ah, the soothing bromides help strengthen your ego.

Northern spice gardens.
The area is suffused with a comforting, deep blue luminescence, signifying a
healing shrine of Elostian nearby. A blizzard rages here. A low wooden fence to
the west forms an encircling wall to the gardens, enclosing the cultivated space
and warding off unwanted intruders. The gardens are divided into rows and sown
with ginger plants, their thin, pale golden leaves waving gently in the mild
breeze. A walkway of wooden slats criss-crosses the gardens, laid out to provide
access to each row of plants without trampling the delicate growth. The fat
golden ginger roots are sometimes visible through the mist that swirls over the
ground, erupting above the surface of the clouds. A low bench of painted wood
rests against the fence to the north, apparently providing a vantage point from
which a gardener can watch over the ginger plants. The distant sounds of bird
calls can be heard, drifting down from somewhere above. The twisted remains of
Izekeal lie here. The soul of Izekeal roams the land, bodiless.
You see exits leading southeast, southwest, and northwest.
You are lifted up by a swift wind and suddenly feel exhilarated.
A westerly breeze brings in a clean, sweet scent that invigorates your body.
You feel the Substratus channel open again.

You feel the Superstratus channel open again.

Wow. His soul gave you the plague.
Furien2010-12-13 18:59:46
Yes.
I act skillfully in my own self-defense, having happily avoided the plague ever since its inception (being extremely suspicious of chocolate and all that) and then ... wham.
Soul infection.

Her gun sucks.
See I am not unfamiliar with FF.
But for Gunmages, I prefer the Iron Kingdoms kind.

Correction: Illegal to be used in Hallifax, but against Gaudiguch...

:/ I really hate when these events make the real you cry and you can't figure out why.
Kiradawea2010-12-13 22:38:52
The admin never ceases to surprise me at how bad they get at making events. What's the purpose of an event that basically says "log out for 7 days, and if you're logged in, don't interact with anyone. You may infect/get infected".

Alternative 2: Play along, try 'not' to get infected to some extent, and then once you are enjoy the event (because it is bound to happen eventually).
What exactly does the infection make you unable to do? Once everyone's infected quarantine procedures are out the window, after all.
This is not the first time it's happened, as long as it is affecting Magnagorans too this time, all's good in my opinion.
Sakr2010-12-13 22:47:46
why not get infected, and see the world in a new light?
and then suddenly, you get a scent-like ability that lets you sniff out the un-infected

Pretty much this.
I've had a lot of fun, both pre and post-infection. Heck, being forced to stay out of Hallifax is making me meet new people!
Unknown2010-12-13 22:51:57
Phoebus doesn't want to get infected because of her horrible fear of going through another incurable disease (which caused her to lock herself in her office for days when this first began), and because so few people who aren't young are still allowed within the city, and she has work to do. However she's mostly accepted the inevitablility of her becoming infected, as she can't keep herself from going out into the world and trying to be productive. It's only a matter of time before someone coughs on her!
Seraku2010-12-13 22:53:02
I find this disease kinda funny. It kinda forces people to not stand around the nexus.
Xenthos2010-12-13 22:55:32
My primary issue with the event is the lightning strikes, really. Do something about those and the rest is all something that you can deal with because it's not actually interrupting things to a huge degree, especially as the bulk of the playerbase gets infected.
Sakr2010-12-13 23:01:39
I'm interested. How many people are not infected at this moment?
Lehki2010-12-13 23:01:43
I'm conflicted between wanting to roleplay paranoia and avoiding all infected and quarantining myself away from them, and wanting to actually see what the disease is doing. D:

1) Do 1 until it inevitably fails.
2) Do 2 at that point.
You can have the best of both worlds!

It's an event, be happy about that.
Achaea went 6 months without anything interesting happening, and, when events do happen there? There is no risk, no threat, nothing to really make players think there could be consequences.
I, for one, applaud the administration for creating dangerous events, scary events that make us think - if even only for a few minutes - that everything just might not work out for us.
Seraku2010-12-13 23:07:28
This event only reinforces the fact that Seraku doesn't eat sweets. 1) He doesnt like them, 2) DISEASED CHOCOLATE

We cut their chance to occur in half early yesterday, can look at cutting them again.
And the disease is fun! Really!
