Renthur coughs violently, expelling a speck of grey phlegm that hits you in the face.

I was in there for under ten seconds, just heading past to the Aetherplex. D:

This is why I've been logging out in either a locked room of my manse, or Maylea's inner temple.

the fact that it only took a sec of being in the same room to infect me is stupid.

I knew I should have locked down the whole manse until this whole event was done....

I wish there was a cure that works...

(if it isn't obvious, I -really- hate the idea of the Gnafia. and I do not mean this to sound like I'm attacking the admins who are doing event, I'm sure you are doing a great job but I guess you can't please everyone as it is always said.)

You're not alone.
Sylphas2010-12-18 05:14:25
Seems like they're leaning on the Gnafia way too heavily lately.

Everyone takes 'beef' with something - I've heard people complain that Hallifax isn't 'Lusternian', because it's too 'science' and not very 'magic' or 'fantasy' (or, my pet peeve, people insisting that Glomdoring is the top org - everyone knows that's Celest! Hmph!). I'm fond of the Gnafia, because it allows players to get insight into the nature of the gnomes and their society - and it expands on it. Sure, 'Gnafia' is an obvious 'borrow', but I don't see it being much different from Kethuru/Cthulhu - one people simply regard as fantasy, the other they turn their nose up as distasteful. (That, and I just crack up when I see 'Gnafia'...)

I say roll with the punches, enjoy the event (or don't!), and see where it takes you. You can log off, I suppose, and go play (Reader Rabbit/Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego/Mathblasters/whatever is 'hot' these days), and not participate ( sad.gif ) or you can log in and participate, and enjoy the event (or do something else entirely - go influencing, bashing, etc).

(And I don't know why it has to be 'leaning on' - can't there be a progressive story-arch, or a reoccurring baddy for a bit? If the Gnafia were entirely unheard of before, or only once, wouldn't it have seemed sort of strange for this whole criminal organization that's never been seen nor heard of (except maybe once in passing) to be suddenly showing up and making an attempt on taking control?)

I can't believe I actually know what those games are.

Eh, why is that hard to believe?

Everyone should remember those, right?

Right...

I think that it's more along the lines of the Gnafia being introduced, and then seemingly every single world event since then involving them in some way. This probably isn't the case, as I'm sure that there are things that I just haven't taken notice of, but it does seem that way at times. I think people felt the same way about the Dread Lord of Contagion a couple of years ago; for awhile, he was behind all of the 'end of the world' scenarios.

Why does a progressive story-arch have to have some baddy at the source, or if it does, why can't it be something like Kethuru getting better at breaking his prison?

I have always enjoy simple short arches than long ones.

I don't. sad.gif

I really don't mind the Gnafia, but if they really masterminded this whole thing they're just starting to turn into Scrappy characters like the Dread Lord was.

(I mean really, if we fight Kethuru and the Gnafia by saving the Christmas Cheer, this'll all just feel really... cheap.)

I wonder how the playerbase who've seen the end of the world more than say, once or twice, would react if the end of the world events actually came with a mechanical possibility for something to be destroyed. Mind, not the lost forever kind of deal, but the kind of destruction that it'd take some amount of work to rebuild that's central to their own organization?

What if Celest had a chance for say...a chunk of their Cathedral to be destroyed if they didn't do xx-part in the event. Or part of Glomdoring's underground system to cave in? Or one of Hallifax's generators to blow up? They're not 'permanent' losses since you'll probably have to pay x-amount to get it rebuilt or do y-thing to return it to pristine condition, but would the jaded people feel like they'd feel some sort of bigger accomplishment for participating in the event if they can prevent the loss or would they just view it as something they're forced to do? (Of course, this concept of being 'forced' to do anything goes in line with people 'having' to defend, so I dunno).

Unless people think permanent losses would be a better incentive anyway.

These are the things I ponder in my zen-like state of e-petrification. That, and I'm too lazy to start another thread. floaty.gif

I think this happened in Aetolia. They constantly complained about nothing happening ect., finally a large event put together by the admins so that a new continent could show up and the game could finally lose it's Achaea mirror geography happened. Cities were wrecked and a new continent was found. I didn't play Aetolia much then but it looked very cool and I would love for that to happen. Why can't we have our own Cataclysm someday? I've always seen Lusternia as being post-apocalyptic and the idea of events permanently effecting what we have for the negative seems to fit in.
