I enjoy the game plenty, or I wouldn't still be here. Trust me. I just don't enjoy the play style of a select few individuals, but I keep trying to remind myself that the things they do to hurt others is only a part of who they are, those things don't hurt as much as I/we think, and it is just a game.
And, if you'd seen and heard some of the things I have, you might think differently about certain people you appreciate... or not... or maybe you already do. I really don't know what you do over there when I'm not looking.
Tried the alt thing, in Glomdoring even, and found it to be less than desirable/fun, for various reasons.

I never realized until just now how much I play this game solo. The one time I actively try and get an aetherhunt together it's like pulling goddamn teeth and never happens. Getting together rituals is a pain in the ass. Getting together aetherhunts is a pain in the ass. Putting together a standard hunt with a bunch of people is kind of pointless, because at some point you can just aetherhunt instead, and if not, astral is about the only thing worth doing as a big group.
Some days I think I just picked the wrong org on day one and fell into all the wrong cliques and that I'm going to be screwed for another bunch of years unless I totally upend Sylphas and his RP and history.

:hugs: Cheer up? All orgs are terrible, but all orgs have non-terrible folks in them. Just look for those folks. Or look outside your org for encouragement. And why would standard hunts with others be pointless? If the purpose is to gather lots of gold and xp fast, yes it is... less efficient. But wouldn't the goal of a group hunt be to be with others and do something social? (Though I wouldn't mind yet another squad xp boost)

But we like you. You don't have to play solo!
But are you showing him this fact? It is easy to think that you are liking someone, but if you aren't actually doing anything to show this, how is he supposed to know? Take the time to say it, show it. PM a nifty picture. Give them an e-flower. Such small acts take so little time and energy and do so much.

I'd like to, but the environment isn't really conducive to having much fun there. I do need to get this play put on sometime though, the Shofangi deserve as much effort as I can muster.
Try to catch Gleip. He has some ideas he's told me, but he spends too much time hiding out in a manse or harvesting. A nudge should be all he needs.

More likely than you'd think, people occasionally complain to me about how being old is too intimidating to make them want to talk to me until I put a tonne of effort in

It sucks when newer people are too intimidated to talk to you for whatever reason when you're trying to help or encourage some rp or little events in the city/commune.
Shiri2011-01-04 15:57:42
Yeah. I only ever find out after I decide I like someone and keep making the effort to talk to them and then they decide I'm not that scary and explain how they felt before.

No that I interacted much but I found the people in Glom to be very nice. It was the atmospherics I couldn't stand.

I have an alt in Glomdoring. I haven't played her for a little while now, but, for the most part I have to agree. I liked the people, but the atmosphere...snore. Not to the point of "couldn't stand it", but, it was just...I don't know, boring. Her guild is pretty interesting though! But no one is ever online at the same time as me when I play her so I don't get to experience the full effect of it. It's like...ghost-guild.

Sometimes I feel like I don't know anyone well in Seren. That's my problem with it.
This is an inevitable problem and unless you accept it, things likely won't get better before they get worse. As more and more of the old players stop playing/start alting, more and more of the remaining feel foreign to the rest of the org, causing them to want to do the same. This has a snowball effect until there really isn't anyone left. Instead of seeing the problem, they instead become part of the problem.
When I first came back, I felt much the same way. But I've got to know a lot of the newer faces and have found myself enjoying it a lot more. While I wish the older ones would come back, I know I can't choose how other people have fun. It is always nice to see some of those people log in from time to time, though.

That reminds me, I need someone to help with this friggin' play. Leaving this post as a memo to myself to go looking for someone tmw morning!
And in all fairness, it is a lot of effort and stress trying to make friends with new people like that, which is why I used to try and offer to introduce people to my friends a lot, to varying levels of success. Without someone to do that for you it's kind of like being a newbie again. Not easy for a lot of personalities.

Part of the problem about orgs, I think, is that the people who get really into the RP, the atmosphere, etc, wind up taking on all the responsibilities too. GM, CL, Ministries, whatever. And it's not so much that they don't want to socialize, but that they're kinda feeling burnout. And sometimes they just don't think about interacting with the newer people.
Or maybe that's just true for me. I used to try and talk to nearly everyone.
