Aetherhunting would be a lot more fun if people would sing along with my aethership-shanties. Or at least respond to them!
Furien2011-01-09 01:46:36
I hate writing up a nice, organized post on why the current implementation of war shrines is bad, only to hit the 'refresh' button thinking I'm on different window entirely, thus completely erasing thousands of words and arguments.

You sing?
I'm jealous, I want a singing captain or something...
Lorina2011-01-09 01:50:58
Hmm who was a singer....Always singing about booze on the wall...Was annoying really.

What's especially difficult I think is for orgs that don't really get a lot of Divine enemying. Lord Elostian doesn't exactly have an enemylist, last I heard. So while we have shrines on Continuum and Air and they're awesome, they aren't able to attack anyone. And it's been pointed out to Hallifax time and time again "You really need to utilize shrines better." So while RP is fancy and all, mechanics do play a part.
As a Raezonite, I appreciate not being enemied to Elostian. I've had a few good conversations with Elostian peoples, and I'd hate to get enemied for some stupid mechanical reason. I suppose I could get enemied raiding Halli or something, but I do appreciate not being. Gods of Knowledge ftw.

Where did I say I didn't enforce my rules? I have protocols, i.e. if someone wants to enemy someone for certain reasons, there are guidelines and options. If they choose not to use those options, that is not something I am going to enforce. 'You MUST enemy these people!' isn't something that really is very compatible with Elostian's character and teachings.
And yes, I am reasonably sure that my order is unique 'or something'.

Yay. Short of direct attacks on Raezon, I won't enemy unless you meet one of the other reqs for order enemy.

I'd like to hear them. Envoy reports are due in a week, and shrines have actually crossed my mind.

This has been rectified!
Ileein2011-01-09 02:14:40
But we still won't have a permanent enemy list unless you, I dunno, give Elostian the finger or something. Which is difficult to do because you can't see him.

Okay, you start offering essence to Elo to make up for the massive drain of essence that war shrines use and I'll set off shrine powers like its the Fourth of July (or bonfire night).

I usually go to his temple and flip off the state of Elcyrion, so I'm flipping off half of him. Otherwise, too difficult.

I thought he was pretty much all one state. Have you been lowering the temperature on the poor fellow?

I thought I'd learned my lesson about baking and playing Lusternia back when I ruined my pecan pie talking to Maellio, but no. Tonight it was bread and aetherhunting. Thankfully, neither the ship nor my bread imploded.
Casilu2011-01-09 03:01:46
Just use DEFIANCE. You might get a particle or two.

I wasn't pointing fingers, I hope you realize. I was recounting issues as they had been brought to me. Believe it or not, I am aware that shrines cost essence when put into use. The post wasn't an attack. It was commentary on a perceived problem.
Breathe.

So that's what all those breaks were about. You're the pilot, don't make bread!

Alternatively: "You're a baker, don't fly spaceships!"
I was making the bread before everybody started bugging me for a flight. It came out perfectly. Once I have a piece I'll try take the boat back out.

In the long run (especially looking at most essence banks Divine have) war shrine powers really do not cost that much unless you're going to maintain them 24/7.
Likewise, there has never been a pressing need to actually make use of any shrine in defense of Hallifax because they tend to be able to take care of themselves.
So, hey! There's no problem here at all!
