The intention is to dissuade gods from filling unassociated orgs with their members - instead of saying, "Eventru, please don't try to take over Hallifax by filling it with your order", even if it may well be in Eventru's roleplay to do so, it was decided to add in order affinity - a mechanical reason not to do it. While it makes for fun roleplay from time-to-time, it can cause severe and long-lasting damage to a new organization when it occurs (or even established orgs).
It's not a popular decision (one which is not going to be reviewed), but it's one that was felt necessary to preserve game health.
And since the topic opens a lot of very unpleasant wounds that may never heal, and lead to a lot of hurt feelings, and just general unpleasantness, yes, it's one that is dissuaded from being discussed on the forums (insofar as it's perfectly fine to ask about it, given you don't know about it, but those who want to sit and rage about how much they don't like it are not going to be doing so for long).

That's the first time I've heard that explanation, and I wish I would have heard it sooner. I'd have been less aggressive. Doesn't change my feelings, but it's something I can accept a bit easier now.

It's not possible to check without flying over a vortex, since he didn't freaking know what he was doing either. You have to take people's word for it unless you have illusions, and it seems horribly OOC to try to ferret out what reflexes he has with that.
It would also solve the problem, I think, if I was allowed to kill morons for that, instead of having people jump to make excuses for why it's ok to kill more than a half dozen people because of your own stupidity.

In all honesty I'm not even sure what is and isn't against the rules these days. I just do what makes sense and if people bitch, then I say "My bad, I didn't know." Killing random morons is about the only thing I've refrained from.
