A typical example of mine luck.
Arrive at quest area. Discover that the quest is in half-done state, requiring me to complete it in order to start it over in a manner suiting my needs. Be forced to leave after completing it, returning to find that it has returned to it's half-done state, try to complete it again...
And get stuck when required quest mobs fail to spawn in sufficient amount. I am so lucky.
Oh, and right before I finish? The whole thing resets. Just my luck.

When Magnagora got bards, it was unfortunately inevitable, given Estarra's taste in music, that there would be a song effect called Tainted Love. When Hallifax gets bards, presumably they will blind people... with science! (Which is a shame since bards need people not to be blind.)
Rika2011-01-21 19:22:50
I have no idea how anyone who isn't a demigod or a warrior/forcefield mage can complete the aetherspace epic quest.

I really hope Hallifax never gets bards and monks. Having just the three original guilds feels so right.

You're not. That, or do the villian side of it.
Is this a good time to say that tomorrow's party is during the Knowledge seal challenge? So you either participate in the seal challenge which you have the best shot at winning in... or you go to the first party you've been on in years.

Knowledge is next week.

Personally I can't wait til' those guilds come out. I probably won't be joining neither unless plans change drastically, but I am looking forward to the lore.
To each their own.

So am I, but mostly for mechanical balance reasons. We're essentially at a disadvantage without them, by virtue of 2 of our 3 ' current enemy' orgs also having them.
(EDIT: Oh, I'd also rather be in either of them.)

When they released the original bards, they didn't come up with lore for them for like 2 years (unless you count the "Hey, this is a dead god's voice, woo").
Ileein2011-01-21 20:23:38
Yes, but I'm sure they'll be better-prepared this time, given that there's been a much larger time span between "invention of bard archetype" and "release of Halli/Gaudibards" than with the others.
Gleip2011-01-21 20:23:39
We're still working out lore for Shofangi even. It's hard, but I'm having a few things I'm dabbling in whenever I get the time.
Shiri2011-01-21 20:29:18
Man, I completely forgot about that Shofangi play I was supposed to do since editing it to actually run on the stage was such a pain. Someone remind me to do that on Sunday when I'm all finished moving in.

I think it has been stated that bards were a failed experiment. They wanted to give a guild the freedom of inventing its own purpose and reason for being and it fell flat on its face.
Ileein2011-01-21 20:32:54
Yeah, most of those experiments seem to have failed, alas. The same thing was tried with the Aeromancers and I think poor Phoebus is tearing her hair out about now, so... yeah.

It's a cool idea but trying to herd an entire guild into one form of thought is just impossible.

Unless it's the Ur'Guard.

Gnafia side is much easier. You're probably like me and prefer to do quests solo no matter what but getting help.. can.. help..

Air is worse. Water at least I can look at the map, Air you have to memorize the room names.
Shamarah2011-01-21 21:14:23
At least Air and Water are arranged in a comprehensible pattern, unlike the mountains on Earth.

I mean in defending terms. Dealing with the damn loop, and the moving whirlpool. Air it's easier to get from the Matrix to the Air Lords at least.
Note: Please do not say that it' s a good idea to get a mantle. First, not everyone has one, second, until you have to deal with the Celest epic and a constantly broken quest, I don't want to hear it.
