You still have the other avatar powers - Resurrection is the only one that costs.

Considering it's a soul rezz (with range, IIRC?), that seems pretty fair to me.

Of course, people are welcome to disagree.

Hey, Avatar/cult powers are like the best part of the new system.

STOP CRUSHING MY SOUL, EVENTRU!!!

And I wouldn't mind the cost- it's actually something to keep spending essence on, which I don't mind. I mind it having weight. I don't understand why it's 7 weight. I feel like it's sorta like "Congrats on being Avatar, your long service and RP has paid off! Oh, by the way, you get these sweet new powers! Oh, but one of them is going to take up 7 of your weight, so I hope you weren't planning to use that 7 weight on yourself!" I feel like it wouldn't cause any problems being 0 weight, like Veneration.

EDIT: Yeah, Rika, I am really looking forward to the Veneration stuff because it looks absolutely amaaaazing. But the basic Avatar powers aren't any different than before, except for rezz taking up part of your weight, which I don't understand why that is necessary. Veneration is 0 weight and has way more things than the ability to rezz someone once an RL day for 250,000 essence.

It's what I'm here for, Arel.

Now wait until you find out we're going to strip your Avatar status, and make you pay to be able to be made into an avatar, then make you pay (in weight, no less!) for all your avatar powers.

Muahaha, insert evil laughter here.

(Yes, I'm kidding.)

I would cry IRL. For days. DO MY YEARS OF FAITHFUL RP MEAN NOTHING TO YOU HEARTLESS ADMINS?!

Yeah, weight is seriously not the problem with Veneration.

No, now get back to cleaning My Cathedral.

Veneration/cult for RP kicks major tail. It's still buggy here and there, and the abilities minus a couple are pretty useless, but it's still really neat.
Razenth2011-01-28 19:33:46
Poor Iytha. Her attempts at building RP get derailed by Gaudiguch inaneness and our lovely frat boy mentality..

Gaudiguch must be the only city where you can freely talk about sexlife on CT and not get smacked down hard and fast.

Now... never mind, I'll probably get a ban for that.
Unknown2011-01-28 20:05:46
Damn, I hope Gaudiguch is doing okay. I got a limited sense--at least based on the forum discussions, which could be misleading--it's having new org problems similar to what once affected Glomdoring, as well as the "snuggler" reputation that still haunts Serenwilde. For both IC (Tully likes them) and OOC reasons (I like to help the underdog, and there's so much RP potential), I contributed 1.1 Million gold to them so they can build things for their city.
Arath2011-01-28 20:14:38
It is doing much better nowadays, but it still has a long way to go.

as well as the "snuggler" reputation that still haunts Serenwilde.

They inherited a lot of Serens, and a disproportionate number of the Seren problem children, due to a historical accident: before the new cities, Serenwilde was the closest thing the Basin had to an ideology in which individual freedom meant anything. Individual freedom was never a Seren tenet, but everyone else had tenets that were more firmly opposed to it than Serenwilde did. So a lot of would-be-Gaudiguchians ended up in Serenwilde. If you asked people where the Gaudis-to-be were, they'd probably say Celest or Magnagora, but it turns out, without anyone really seeing it, Serenwilde had most of who would actually end up there. That's really why Serenwilde and Gaudiguch have had an alliance, even though the ideologies have really no good reason for it. (Serenwilde has no good reason to like Hallifax either, but that match, if it existed, would still not make sense but wouldn't go as far to making the opposite of sense. You can apply the same reasoning to the Glomdoring/Hallifax alliance -- had all six nations come into play at the same time, none of it would have fallen like it did, not in a million years.)
Unknown2011-01-28 22:52:31
I moved from Seren to Gaudi. Honestly, it didn't have anything to do with associating Seren with being the closest to individual freedoms or what have you. I didn't even plan to move at first. But I went through the city reading the room descriptions and such, and really clicked with the ideas there.

Rambling, fatigued reasoning here:
Then I got beset by one billion drug references and hippie speak.

Then I got to see personal, often OOC animosities and various individuals incapable of even tact result in RL months of destructive drama.

Then I got to see Gaudi dragged over the coals by some pretty, in my opinion, disingenuous envoying.

Then what we had that passed for fighters freaked out enmasse and either hopped to halli and changed their OOC opinions, or hopped to alts in Halli or elsewhere, or just up and disappeared.

At which point, I said yeah, no longer worth the effort.

And now I'm in Celest. Paladins are the most lively guild I've yet been in, the themes and divine are a lot of fun, and I'm not up to my neck in hippies/text-versions-of-undergraduate-slackers. So, wub.gif for all that.

Yeah, I really wish we had that. ThenI could actually participate in conversations while piloting.

I love my little capture window for MUSHclient now, for that very reason. Great while bashing or harvesting, too.
