There are 1 of 2 ways, generally:
1. A god opened it.
2. Veneration

I am pretty sure it's not 1 unless you really think Elostian (I am just saying him because it lead to his place) wanted Team Halliseregora to win -that- badly, and there's a line as to how much a divine can help his/her org. Which leaves 2, and honestly, I personally haven't used portal enough to really know what does and does not work with it.

So hey, that portal probably wasn't meant to last as long as it did, but I am really really really doubting that team HSM is the paragon of player sportsmanship here.

Are we complaining about a portal opened by Elostian (or Hallifax) that was used by both parties during that scuffle? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! Shouldn't have opened it then! I don't think its a bug, also.

At a glance, there's a bug with divine portals summoned by divine (but not cults) that cause them to have an inordinately long lasting time. It'll be fixed soon.

I'll look into Veneration Portals working into/out of Muud (and by proxy Aetherbubbles) - it should not be possible.

Want the latest envoy changes to go live. Will finally start using flashflood more often instead of spending the full two minutes to refresh effect times.

I don't know, looking back at Old Glomdoring... Xenthos never stood out as a particularly top tier combatant but was a very strong and influential CL. I think it is more about being there for defense and actively participating than being an elite combatant. The only person I can really think of who I would identify as one of those big name leaders was Daevos, but that was a long time ago with a different dynamic.

To clarify, I was unaware Divine Portals were bugged. The portal in question was opened about 2-3 hours before the actual event when I was speaking with a follower who, after we were done, indicated that he wanted to help defend a shrine of someone-or-other. I usually offer lifts to individuals I have been talking with, however, I don't usually have a target to open a portal to, as this was the case here I attempted to open one, lost some essence, caused an untrapped error, didn't see a portal open, blinked, shrugged and then just flung the follower to some of Elo's other followers who were already there. I at no point did QL or L before I left, as such I never realised that it had opened the portal despite the untrapped error.

I apologise to anyone who feels that this has impacted their gaming experience in a negative way, I assure you I at no point even vaguely considered that the portal might still be there hours later and it certainly wasn't my intention to cause a permanent opening into Muud that persisted through the death seal. It was an honest mistake and I am sorry it had such wide-spread consequences.

Hehe. It happens every year, but people: whatever happens will happen. There's always next year. I'm glad that I got to participate in the events that I wanted to.

It was people complaining on Facebook about the seal contests and other things that tipped the scales to encourage me to come back. I'd been thinking about it for a little while and then I was hit by waves of nostalgia when I saw people bickering about griefing on my news feed.
