There was never 21 at one time. I'm not sure how accurate the 21 is, but looking back, at the start we had 10 people, for the most part while camping in the domoth room about the same number and at the end we had about 11 people. We didn't outnumber by much at all. The only reason we held on for any amount of time was because of pits and wisp.

Whee, Shulamit has finished learning fifty bagillion lessons, and has pledged and deep pledged and everything and is now all done with that stuff. I have been up for over a day now, and now have an unhappy fiance, and annoyed cat, and no mental capacity anymore. Oh, and contesting Neos for bookbinding. You don't mind really Neos, right? O_O
Now, to make food for unhappy fiance. So he's less unhappy. And ponder upon Celest. And shiny things for the cartel.

You're running into a dead end there, comment by comment. I don't think any of Glom's invasion mobs afflict with aeon, either.

Go for it, I'm a fail designer, having only submitted one design and that being the private family stationery. I have ideas for stuff, just bad at putting them down.

Happens to me all the time. I tried to get caught up on my designs last weekend and failed miserably.

In at least three, maybe four aetherflares, Magnagora has had barely anyone. We won the first round with literally myself, Malarious, and midbies to novices. Not to mention the quickly thrown together crew of Razenth and Vermilla + a gunner.
At shrines: to deny they can change the scales is lying to yourself. I've seen it happen quite a few times, mostly when the numbers don't account for the skill. Invasion may not be too big a deal, but when you throw in your midbies getting taken out to pits/charge/squall into the mob camp, yes, it can be frustrating.
As to morale: Magnagora doesn't have any 24/7 griefers. We can go out and defile all the shrines we want to, but it just means that Inagin will throw a tantrum and defile ours as well as raid. The fact is, it's rare for us to have our core group all online at once.
Lendren does bring a good point, though, about advantages piling up and not increasing risk. The aetherflare system is fundamentally flawed in two respects: the first is that holding multiple flares does NOT increase risk at all. There's no additional territory to defend. The second respect is that it makes the raiding game one-sided. Free discretionaries to those holding the bubbles, but if anyone dare retaliate, distort and flux are immediately up.
I'm not buying the "it's punishing the winning org" argument. It's realistic to expect a stretch in resources, which is NOT happening.

Noone is denying that shrines change the scales. That's obviously why they're used. And everyone can.
Not sure where anyone said holding more bubbles is punishing the winning org. Advantages from it may stack, but they don't make regaining the bubbles upon the next flare easier, aside from the quicker access to the bubble for pre-flare shrine wars. And discretionaries/distort, free or not, do get used regularly.

They do, but there's a disincentive when they're not free. Honestly, 50% to 25% of power cost would be far better than free. Just to keep it from going up the moment a midbie with M&M shows up and kicks a mob.

This comment is weird. Razenth and Vermilla are among the most skilled and experienced with aetherspace in the game, with a pretty tricked out ship to boot. I'm not sure that naming them and their quickly thrown together crew paints the picture of a handicap you seem to be implying.

Lendren's was the only comment I found constructive and relevant. I think the constructs are benefit enough, and we could probably do away with the power gained from holding them, and instead revert to their requiring gold upkeep and a power cost (or prepower via auronispheres). This in itself might cause organizations to reconsider how many constructs they can reasonably support. It will not stop people from doing everything they can to prevent enemy orgs from claiming bubbles, though.
It is unclear to me if the argument is that Glomdoring and Celest should not be able to have all their constructs - or if every org should be able to have more. If the latter though - it's been explicitly said several times that having constructs at all is not a 'right', but rather a 'reward' and not one that everyone is entitled to...
Kiradawea2011-03-05 21:48:30
People aren't saying that having more bubbles punish the winning org. They're saying that having more bubbles don't punish the winning org. There are no cons to owning a bubble. Sure, getting a bubble requires effort, but once you have the bubble, nothing bad is going to happen for having it.

Razenth and Vermilla are definitely good. But it was short notice, and even they weren't 100% sure what was going on.
Rewards shouldn't have such significant advantages without drawbacks. My argument is that if org x takes bubble y, bubble y should have drawback z in addition to benefits a through w.
Vadi2011-03-05 22:11:22
All bubbles should negate an org-wide sip bonus, if one is available.
