GOD, I hate people who use the smirk emote, because invariably they are already annoying. This happens often by people of lower rank and ability, and is very annoying. I also hate the softsmile emote, because it often comes of as EXTREMELY condescending. You say something, and someone smiles softly at you. All they left off was patting your head and telling you to go play with your toys.

We must transcend our hatred of these emotes. floaty.gif

That or find something suitable to rage upon. Die, text critters, die.

Let's not have personal attacks, especially over such a trivial issue, and not in tweets.

I hate the sparkle emote with a passion myself. Those damn condescending anime bastards.

The #1 abuser of this emote are lucidians. But they're made of crystal. So it works?

I don't use e-motes very often since I try to RP the Xyl-style lucidian with no facial emotion (no smiling or frowning or other facial movements), which generally means most of my emotes are incline, sparkle, chuckle or "emote begins to glow with a|an hue." So you can see why sparkle is easier.

I really like these discussions about emotes and how people use and interpret them. Very fascinating. Someone make a topic for it.

Predefined emotes are so contextual. I wish more people played around with them that way. Sparkle never struck me as an 'anime' emote. That person is just laughing with their eyes. confused.gif

If it was like, big watery eyes sparkling as person thinks of a SUPER KAWAII BOY, then sure I would agree on the anime thing. But eyes sparkling with amusement doesn't really strike me as an anime trait. They tend to get triangle eyes for laughter. Example: ^.^

I can tell you the reason we shrine up, there's 2 of them really 1) if we don't, there's a good chance you will and 2)we're going to get zerg rushed by Magnawildifax and we need something to balance it.

I can tell you why you shrine up: Because you like to win.

And there is nothing wrong with that. Players should use every resource available to them to win.
Lorina2011-03-08 07:06:24
We have funny names for combined orgs...

Celest + Glom = Celdoring? Glomest? Sounds like molest.

Seren + Mag = Magwilde? Serengora sounds cool.

Hallifax + Gaudi = Halliguch! Yes....

Winning is pretty swell. It tastes like dried mangoes.

RE: not knowing people's names - I kind of justify it because of the HONORS command. I like to think of it as a mental repository/index of knowledge that's just natural to every lusternian who exists. Blah blah minor mental telepathy that allows you to use TELLS as well argument here. In there, it tells you who someone is, where they came from, etc. It does not tell you that they wield Lightbringer, Sword of the Just, or anything like that. That's why I think it's justifiable to know someone's name and what they do, but not what items they own.

Had an idea for a lovely gown, but then remembered no one really wears them.
Esano2011-03-08 08:05:10
You can wear gowns as greatrobes now, so if you make it a greatrobe-gown you could sell them.

EDIT: Make a matching hat too!
Razenth2011-03-08 08:08:28
Your hat should be a black gauze veil with the eight pointed star of Chaos emblazoned on it in crimson thread and blood, and your gown shoulder less and predominant with blacks and reds and have two or three of those spiky trophy/skull holders sticking up the back, all refined like.

I had 10 different ones stocked in my shop for the longest time (Like rl months) and no one bought them. I finally gave up on trying to sell them and gave them to novices to use.

I tried this for a while, but people kept buying the gown and not the hat.

I don't think word has really caught on, because I still come across a surprising number of people who think I'm lying when I say a gown/hat can be enchanted. confused.gif
Xiel2011-03-08 08:34:34
Clearly there should be a wee bit of added code that brings attention to another item* if item A was bought. A sort of, buy this and get this for less/as well, so that people who buy a gown can be brought to the hat or vice versa!

*Latter item, if set with this function, won't loop back to another item so as to prevent an annoying chain of buy this-get this too.

Yay e-shopping ease. happy.gif

I must be the combination of most people's pet peeves since I frequently make use of softsmile, sparkle, and occasionally do the smirk thing ! sad.gif -Goes in a corner and sobs-

I personally use softsmile when someone says something/I find something to be sweet.

The sparkle thing if you've said something amusing but only mildly so.

sad.gif

and when I finish my swords they're going to be pretty obnoxiously and vainly named, so I'm going to be a conglomeration of all pet peeves. Muhahahaha

That said, the "tsk tsk" emote makes me want to leave the room sometimes.
Xiel2011-03-08 08:41:42
Slay the emote miscreant. butcher.gif
