That works (I tend to use Notepad++ myself because notepad annoys me for anything except a quick note), but... you can turn off 'smart' quotes (it would be nice if they defaulted to disabled, oh well).

Yeah, I make sure they're turned off every time I use it now, but it loooves to reset itself to default settings for some reason. Probably because it thinks its quotes are SO SMART. mad.gif

It's the lottery. I gave up trying to understand. I run my things through a checker (which won't tell me if I misspell a word to another, correct word though :/). Now I just submit, cross my fingers, and say come on, designs pending! Let at least one stop pending. I had twelve in there at one point for the very longest time. Meer. I could have a lot in there, if I used all the cartels. Gold costs say no sad.gif As for uhm, that...sad angel thingy. I give you a hug! And the reminder that you have a purty vial that looks like you. *true*

Now matter how good you are at designing things, I find it always, -always- helps to have someone peer edit your work at least once. They will almost always find something that you missed.

I'm not a designer in the slightest, but I'm always confused when people comment about their designs being rejected over something like one misspelled word or some other minor and obvious typo. Would it really be such a big deal for whoever implements designs to fix a typo or two, since mortal reviewers are apparently so apt to point them all out.
Shulamit2011-03-15 00:02:34
I wish, but I can see why not. Then we'd all be up in arms about how dare you fix something without asking us :/ Personally, when it's my design, I don't care. You wanna fix that I mispelled here in ehre, go right ahead.
Lendren2011-03-15 00:07:13
Back in Aetolia they used to do that and then stopped, because what it led to is, people didn't bother to fix their own writing since someone else would do it for them. Reviewing was already way too much work even without also having to make up for lazy designers. So they stopped. You could get your designs fast if you took some care, and if you didn't, you'd pay with delays.

When they put in mortal reviews in Aetolia, the mortals weren't able to revise designs, only approve or reject them, for fear they would have to be policed for making inappropriate changes or going too far; and I'd assume the same applies here. It may be clear what someone means by "the wearers arms" (it means you used Stupid Quotes, dummy!) but plenty of them are a lot less clear.

There's really no substitute for the designer taking the extra time to check their design. Whenever I submit my own designs, I check them rigorously, then have someone else check them before I submit, and I almost always get them back fast; but when I submit for other people, they often take forever. That extra care really pays off. I think it works well -- you get what you 'pay' for.
Lehki2011-03-15 00:28:38
I'm not talking about fixing every possible mistake somebody might make, an design with a lot of mistakes especially ones that aren't entirely clear should obviously be sent back. But I think somebody a few posts ago said they had their design rejected because they missed an apostrophe? It's kind of much.

I suppose it's easier for them to just say reject on any single mistake instead of having a not entirely clear rule on what sort of mistakes are fixable.
Shulamit2011-03-15 00:48:48
It's also nice when they point out all the problems the first time, instead of pointing out a different one each time sad.gif

Less annoyed Shulamits! more happy Shulamit.

I made cranes for Zygot. Now I have lots of leather.

Apparently, the secret to wanting to do things is caffeine. o_o I logged in and was like YEAH! DOIN' THANGS!

Wait! Oh, snap. I just realized. My medication that I started has been making me pretty drowsy, and my starting the medication completely coincides with my drifting away from Lusternia. I've just been too tired to care! Clearly I need to start drinking coffee more often, or something, to offset it.

Just be careful about your caffeine intake, especially since you're on medication and have anxiety issues. Otherwise, yay for motivation!

On the topic, Wooo two cups of coffee with a 1-1 ratio on the scoops'n'cups.
Kiradawea2011-03-15 19:23:34
Be careful. Caffeine + medication can sometimes turn incredibly nasty.

Playing up the Runist's being prophets and seers angle, but all my fortunes keep coming out horrible and gloomy. WTB more happy runes. I can put a good spin on Eohl(peace), Rad(journey), Ansuz(light/revelation), or Ing(love), but the rest are all pretty bad.
Sidd2011-03-15 22:37:58
obviously you should come to glom where gloomy prophets would be super welcome

Use Tarots! Tarot's only got one card that can't really be played for happy-happy.
