EDIT: I didn't think it was a bug...I vaguely remember discussion about it being intended last time it went off on the forums. But I'll bug it just in case I guess?
I think it is intended, judging from the huge amounts of essence needed to raise avatars. They increased the amount of time it would take for smobs to lose their invincibility after death, and in return they upped essence costs to raise. I think the idea is that they wanted to make it a lot more feasible to make orgs lose their shields in the event of a successful raid where all the smobs were slain.
By the same token, though, I think they only set the doubling of smob invincibility duration after the big raid where all the spheres fell the first time around. So you probably didn't get a chance to enjoy that full time allotment to recover.

I still need to turn in like three more so I can rant at Hallifax for not giving me the honour. Or, I suppose, get it and be surprised.

I'm pretty sure that the power is double, but not how much shielding you get.
I'm 200% positive I'm right. I've done the quest about 239482034 times.

Now, absolve is interesting and wrack are both interesting. I've heard people diss it and say it's not very viable 1v1, but I think with a little creative skill usage, it could be very viable. I want to see what Fillin comes up with for one.
Speaking as a dude with extensive experience with Wrack, it's very possible 1v1, but still a total pain in the ass, if the person actually knows what they're doing. I think I've got some old logs of me pulling it off mostly on midbie-level combatants in FFAs. (It's good if you have two Nihilists, though; me and Yrael used to run around tag-teaming people with it, and I distinctly remember Amaru + Thaddeus doing something similar with Absolve.)

You lie. If you did the quest that many, then we wouldn't be at 1000 or so sphere power.

Obviously all but a couple hundred were before the first attack on the Spheres.

Lagging + mudlet crashing twice during a raid = A Bad Thing.

I'm actually starting to hate the honours line shortcut, because without it, you can get seven spheres per round. But people always use the golden spheres, so we only get five.

I'm too lazy to recode my semi-auto sphere maker for Mudlet, though.

Alls I wanted to do was get a little piece of the aetherhunting action between having to work and having to sleep. Now I've gone and wasted my last clover leaf and my influence achievement.
Oh well. Just a game.

I'd be down for them just dropping the essence amounts needed to raise again. That'd help too. Either/or.
Rika2011-04-24 05:21:06
They already increased the essence needed.

Like 3000 or so. Keeping in mind there really wasn't even much effort to hinder our essence gathering, apart from Xion being completed and thus elementals being inaccessible. There was just a lag of about four hours or so before the gathering began because... well, there really wasn't anyone around to gather any.
Razenth2011-04-24 05:42:57
So in over four hours it only got down by 2000 tops? Keep in mind, Hallibirds lost that much in less than 30 minutes.
