Is it really okay for a newbie three minutes out of the Portal to present someone with this, and then expect them to rewrite it with correct spelling and grammar for them, without them even trying? Extra points for this being a bard novice. Double extra points for the fact that doing this (yourself) is a guild advancement task for novices.

I suppose, at least, he tried to write one.
Even if he is a near-7-foot-looks-like-some-sort-of-pro-wrestler bard.
I'm going to go ahead and assume the character is human based on the guild and such.
Lendren2010-11-10 17:58:08
For the record, he switched guilds a few minutes later.

Of my Telepathy module, that is, for Mudlet. I just need to figure out this rounding function so that way I don't alert myself that my enemy is at 36.243328347733333% ego.
Here's a nice, quick little script to help with that:
CODE
function round(num)
  return tonumber(string.format("%." .. 0 .. "f", num))
end
  return tonumber(string.format("%." .. 0 .. "f", num))
end
Then, when you want to only show it as a 2 digit number... i.e. 36.24332 becoming 36, just use your round script on the math:
enemy_percent_ego = round((enemy_current_ego / enemy_max_ego) * 100)
Unknown2010-11-10 18:26:22
That's technically just truncating the value. If you want to round it, you should add 0.5 to it first.

Penultimate means second to last. NOT LAST. Stop that! Stop it! Just use numbers to refer to the lines if you're going to keep doing that!

why would you want a vacuum flask?
edit: keeping in mind we all just use planar energy (or other plot device to explain stuff) to keep our beverages warm or cold ahum.
Daraius2010-11-10 20:12:59
To keep hot tea hot and cold tea cold, natch.

Shulamit2010-11-10 20:20:57
No, it was the Charites who said no vacuum flask. It was the reviewers who are using the word wrong. I have yet to see the Charites use a word wrong, actually.

I can't have a dress made of living vines because no one can figure out how to pack dirt into a ball, though we can have liquid armor with no real explanation for what holds it together or makes it able to deflect swords. Inconsistency is, at least, consistent. Try to enjoy it.

Pretty sure the technology to create a vacuum is available in hallifax
but to be honest when I first read dariaus post I thought he meant a Büchner flask (my mind was visiting chemistry) and was like errr why would anyone need that as a tradeitem then as I realized it was a thermos I tried to hide my stupidity with plot devices muahaha.
Lendren2010-11-10 21:17:29
A vacuum bottle seems perfectly fine to me, but I'd defer to the Charites on that, since I can never guess what they'll think is too high-tech. For instance, the ability to make vines grow seems we might just have a bit of that around in Serenwilde. (It's called "dirt, water, seeds, and sunlight." HELP TRADEMASTER explicitly says cloudessence can provide moisture. But no go. Go figure.)

I'm so confused. Are there really even that many people in Gaudi?
Long live Ama'ruaguch?
