Is this still an issue? I must have OBLIVIOUSNESS ON permanently...

That is some sweet, sweet IC conflict material there. Would be better wrestled out there!

Not really IC, Ayisdra probably wouldn't have such a talk in game with Hallifaxian people, at least not in an insulting way as it should be said.

I'm in the same boat-- I don't actually see any abuse, if that's what you mean. Lots of people don't care about combat, sure, but that's different from treating combatants differently? Or has "lol Hallifax hates combatants" just become a meme?

Well, I'm trying to be a combat leader. Part of the issue is I'm new to Lusternia so I'm having to relearn combat from the ground up, the other issue is very few people actually listen to me, when they would listen to Prav, even though I use the exact same calling as him, and have added many things. The other issue is most of our combatants are gone so everyone that follows is a non-com and doesn't know what they are supposed to be doing. Even when I call strategy stuff, people just don't follow it so I'm at a loss of what to do at this point
Are you really new? I always figured you were an alt. You've done pretty well grasping the system so swiftly, Lusternian combat's a lot more in-depth than in the other IRE games. Anywho, I find that a lot of the reticence for getting involved in combat is due to lack of experience. If you want to involve non-coms, the best thing to do is have practice drills for things like assembling at the nexus, village influencing, following commands etc, and lots of spars/FFAs organized, with little rewards (credits or CFs) for participants. That way, people have an impetus to get involved and get a little practical experience in doing so; and you'll develop a reputation as "The Combat Guy", so people'll feel a lot more justified following orders from you.
Once that's out of the way, if they're still reluctant to follow you, just shout at them, because then they have no excuse!

For Celest, it's true, no matter how insulting, what with our crappy reign of VAs. One being a particular .

I can empathize, believe it or not. If it's any consolation, even I have trouble getting the non-coms to play fun non-com games or enter contests. Been lucky with the aforementioned theatre scene, but everything else that's not an aetherhunt... Forget it!
EDIT: There's also the possibility, which I fully accept and appreciate, that I haven't tried hard enough, or been as persistent as necessary.

I doubt it, and that kind of thinking quickly leads to burn out. So many players just don't want to do anything, you can't let it affect your perception of yourself.

It's the same for politics, even for aetherhunts sometimes. When I was making my run as High Priest, I did my damnedest to make sure the guild knew everything that was going on and what I was planning, and tried to solicit their input all the time. I got basically nothing, ever. You just do your best and if they don't care they don't care, and you've got to shrug and keep going if you're having fun.

Yeah Morbo was my first major non-Achaean character but I've been in Achaea since august 1999, and I started mudding in gemstone III when it was free on AOL in 1992. That's not to say I know nearly enough about Lusternia combat, but in general things skew heavily towards maintained offense here. I'm the most defensive class in the game so I passively negate many strategies just by skewing the offenses below the killing threshold so I can get away without knowing everything. I still find out about two or three new skills in other classes every fight. I also log pretty much all my fights and read them after the fight which helps a lot since you'll miss a lot in a normal speed fight

I almost feel like I should comment about this VA's not going for Domoths thing. Almost.
Real Tweet: I keep coming so close to blowing the credits I've saved so far, have to keep reminding myself that I'm saving for bigger and better things Greater Demesne Rune or more beast reactions.
Also a car alarm has been going off directly outside of my street level window the entire time I was typing this. X_X

Now, I always knew druids weren't the class to be if you wanted high resists, but the DMP being mathematically calculated out for me and putting that adjacent to a warrior's just makes it all the more real for me.

I wouldn't. I've gotten to 270 in about 3-4 months, and like half of that was from the 30 coins I got from that last event. I am VERY slow at saving. ):

If it makes you feel better, Morbo, no one ever listens to me in combat either! There are way too many things I still need to learn about fighting (and I want to learn, I just...can't find anyone to teach me, or when I ask someone to help me learn things, they just say "you have to figure it out yourself". I get that experiencing it is important! I just want tipppsssss), but even still, I understand that SOMEONE needs to take the reins when you're out there in a combat situation.
Buuut even when people pick me to be the leader, they still won't listen! I think my biggest pet peeve is the very simple idea that you should follow the person in charge goes over their heads so much. Spamming the beckon emote and saying FOLLOW ME on clans/out loud is often met with CRICKETS. Oh my god that makes me want to throttle people! Or "target" and everyone just flails around and doesn't do anything or hits the wrong person. It's such a mess sometimes. But hey, if a goofy-assed person like me somehow ended up as one of our top people (so I've been told. My thoughts: how? why? what??) I have faith in them. I just need to find the right hammer to bonk the basic skills into some heads. Ushaara, can I borrow your hammer of truth? It seems appropriate.
I actually have a new protege in the Aeromancers who wants to fight. Hurrah! And she's a telekinetic. Those are the people I'm best at teaching, because...well, "Aeromancer telekinetic" is all I've ever been. It's like I've found an oasis in our desert of pacifist Dreamweavers.
Dude, ramblin' much? I really need to keep me away from the caffeine.

So sitting here wondering where a certain someone gets off thinking they have the right to talk to Faragan like they just did.
Sorry hunny buns but curios bought with real money are on the same level as dingbats, not the same as IC tradeskills.
In other words: That was totally out of line, and people who are snarky/unnecessarily rude to Faragan upset me >:

That is pretty much exactly why I stopped trying to lead group fights, too much of a headache trying to direct people who weren't even listening. Never even wanted to be a leader type anyway, sort of just got dumped on me when nobody else would.Seren has been getting better with that since then though. Though I still don't want to be a leadery type.

It's all about how you carry yourself, once you start showing results, people start following you. Plus I'm mean and I yell at people and call them out on their incompetence whenever it gets super bad
